No, I'm not an SL. I'm a guild leader who normally plays the role of SL, and I was going to be one until I found out they were pretty broken in beta. I'm still watching them and may switch profession at some point if they're ever fixed.

First, I totally agree with the comments that making an SL a puppet master is not a good idea.

An SL's role should be to make a group that is already skilled enough to work together even more effective, not to force an unskilled group to work together in the first place.
****

- When multiple party members attack the same target, they do extra damage with an SL (invisibly directing everyone to focus their attacks more).

- When a mob is being taunted by a single character, that mob is more likely to stay on that tank, because the SL is silently coordinating the actions of others to be "less aggroing" than they would be otherwise.

- Multiple heals within a short period of time on a single character become more effective, since the SL is making sure the healers' are working together optimally.

Things like that should happen. An unskilled group attacking all different targets won't benefit, not having someone taunting and taking most of the damage won't benefit. So a Squad Leader will have to so what good group leaders have always done and be a good field general. But once he has the group working together like a well oiled machine, they'll be even MORE effective because he's a Squad Leader.

I think there should also be some active commands, but not things that control people - things that help coordinate a group:

- Add the commands /SetGroupTarget (SL command), and /AssistGroupTarget (rest of group can use, but only if SL has set the target). And unlike /assist, this should NOT start targetting immediately, but should give you that target so you can do all of the other things like queue special attacks and sic a pet.

- Only an SL should be able to /CreateGroupWaypoint. Not super useful since anyone can type /g Ok, everyone type "/waypoint 1200 -1700", but still, convenient.

- How about when you all finish shuttling into Dathomir / Lok / Endor / Yavin / wherever, the SL can type /SetGroupClonePoint - Everyone has to OK a confirmation box of course, but still a useful ability.

- And here's the biggest possible bonus I've thought of: How about if the SL can do a /SetPoolTarget Health, /SetPoolTarget Agility, or /SetPoolTarget Mind? This might need to be pve only, but this would increase the chance of all of those non-pool targetted attacks hitting the correct pool, resulting in much more efficient group killing. Maybe once set, anyone using a non-pool targetting attack would hit that pool 75% of the time? That would be hugely effective!
