Ok, I'm at my wits end with this profession and i'm thinking of ditching it for Ranger. Anyone else ditching SL, and which way are you going?

The only valueable skill line in Ranger is Tracking. And it remains only marginally useful. I suggest following your weapon of choice's profession. Least that way you can help people by killing.

Thinking about dropping Squad Leader and picking up doctor. At least their skills work.

Ranger is only good as a secondary profession (and is a great secondary profession, actually), so I would not reccomend making that your primary focus.

Well if it helps, I'm a Ranger/Pistoleer who just dropped most of my Ranger skills to pick up Squad Leader. The only useful Ranger tree (currently) is Tracking. If you have Master Scout then the terrain negotiation is useless. The 2 traps Rangers get over Scouts are just "OK" but not worth the 14 skill points needed to get them and the camo kits are (IMHO) worthless since they drop as soon as a player fires a weapon or enters combat or takes damage so /maskscent is more efficient for the Ranger as an individual. Anyway, I dropped all of my Wayfaring (Camo kits), 2 boxes of Survival (Camping) and 1 box of Trapping so my Ranger Trees went from 4,3,4,4, to 0,2,4,3 and I haven't noticed a difference at all. If anything I am better off because I put those extra points into novice SL (which I am working on) and CH.

I dropped it for Creature Handler. The entire experience put me off grouping for quite some time, so I decided to join in with all the other leet dewds and become a one-man army.

If I were still interested in grouping, I probably would've gone with Doctor instead. Doctors are friggin' grouping gods, they make Squad Leaders look like a big joke by comparison. Not to mention their skills still work (and are godly) outside of groups, too.

I am going SL and Ranger hehe. I will probably end up getting rid of a lot of ranger skills. I dont think ranger is that great either. I dont know if SL is better than Ranger but i dont think i would get rid of SL to get ranger.

I'm SL / Tracker / CH / Pistoleer

I'm a Squad Leader first and foremost. Tracking in the Ranger tree is great for when you're in a desolate area and need to find something quick in the right direction to keep the group into the hunt still. CH is a hobby just because I think its fun getting new creatures. Inever use a Graul/Cat or anythingcommon. Also make thecreature pull to Tank because I'm weak as hell. Pistoleer is just the natural progression of my Pistol Skills.
