Thread: Ok maybe im a bit crazy....
Go on and flame.. But really.. was looking at skill trees and i REALLY like the group support that SL gives.. I am making a pure support character, as my main character is my crafter and i will only use my second character to run around on guild hunts and such...
I have started up the musician tree to be able to buff and heal my group, especially needed on those advanced planets with no entertainers :/ I also REALY like the look of Squad leader.. Which means after i get the essentials for a master in SL and a master in music i have 9pts left over which i assume would go into pistol 3...
How viable is this, considering I will never be in random groups only guild groups.. comments? flames? suggestions? ![]()

You are really crazy, because those skills and mods you see are borked. Mods aren't having any effect, and the skills rarely work and are laughable when they do.
He hit it on the head. Just b/c something looks good on paper, doesn't mean it is.
Yes well it will NEVER be fixed? This is my alt char, not my main, so her leveling will not go so quickly.. terrain negotiation doesnt even work you are saying?
Only so much time in the day.I have read your report and will give you some responses when I get a chance.
...in response to my query for SL information. That's all they have told me ever and please listen to me when I say I WILL TELL YOU WHEN I HEAR SOMETHING.
hey, if he wants to lug a bagpipe and rally the group into a fray playing 'amazing grace' all power to him..
All the passives do work (with the possible exception of steady aim +10 and volley +10).
hey, i did play a minstrel on DAOC.. aint this the same thing? ![]()
speedsong! with music
SL doesnt look that good on paper- its perhaps the lowest mod/skill to skillpoints used ratio out of any of the hybrid class. And though all the passives are at least minimally functional, the abilities are an absolute joke.
Take my next skillpoint investment- I'm saving up something like 350,000 squadleader XP for the ability to shoot myself in the head and give everyone in my group a 5 second burst run. It's called "Retreat" and its virtually worthless, but I need it to get the ranged defense bonus that will follow it.
Now, SL MAY turn into something good - we don't know yet. I'm pursuing it because I originally intended to be CH, but I want to be unique, and you can see how that turned out. And my PA loves the run boosts I give, and my organizational skills are growing. So its not all bad.
But if you want to be truly useful to a group, a true total support class, go master musician/master doctor, or climb as far up the combat medic chain as you can. SL is just wasted skill that you could be using to heal and buff your PA. For now, at least.
Best wishes and good luck, now matter what you decide.

Well, musician has been mastered and im heading up the SL tree now... fun so far
And yes, when i run out of other skills to drop and my pistoleer starts to go it will take me a while to finish it off, but its going quickly so far, get about 200k xp for each round of dath missions my guild does.
Question: What does SL xp cap at? can anyone tell me? if you have a 4th tier box filled? Would like to hold off training until I cap each time when i start to drop pistoleer
Also: Is there anyway to STOP saying things when you are doing the aim and such commands? I mean i was able to hide underneath a few pets tonite in combat, but really those say bubbles over my head make me a bit obvious.
Hopefully in 4 years, when i get this profession mastered, some of the stuff will be working ![]()
