Thread: SL Should Have a Type of Mind Heal (proposal from a CM)

To all,

First off guys I'm not an SL. I'm a MD/MCM. I'm not trolling. I love you guys and think in theory you're one of the coolest professions in the game.

I am disconcerted at the thought CMs may have mind healing coming but not other classes. Beyond arguments of your brokenness and needing love, the mind issue is a huge one in the game and this ability should not reside in any one class, even mine (lord knows the range and resists for us stuff is incredibly strong in PvP as it is).

I think you guys should have skills along these lines, but I've always had a hard time with direct mind healing. So I have two proposals for you to consider and maybe offer up to Thunderheart when he asks for comment on you guys later this week. Maybe they're not new to you at all...

1. A squad level version of mind pool sharing. /Equilibrate is a powerful Zabrak command that allows sharing of pools. In the hands of an MD with buffs it's incredibly powerful. I believe SLs should have some form of this ability at a group level. Not to share all HAM, but to equilibrate at some degree mind pools among all PCs in a group. This cannot include pets (some with 10k+ mind), and has to have oneof the following upon it: either a timer (say 15 sec) or that it costs mind pool or wounds on the SL and the SL doesn't benefit if it's a passive buff. The efficiency of sharing should depend upon SL ability and maybe never reach 100%. I'm not suggesting that aggregate mind is loss in the conversion, but rather that if player A has 200 mind and player B has 1000 (both have capacity of 1000), you may not get them to 600 and 600 at non master levels. This I think is a very powerful ability for SLs that can easily surpass what CMs have now on TC and is truly in line with what you guys do. I personally feel a triggered command would be easier balancing and easier to code than a passive command that shares damage as it comes in.

2. Oh am I gonna take flak on the CM boards for this one. I think you guys should have a paired passive resistance to poison/disease when you lead a group that consists of a doc or cm. That resistance should be x*(Avg of SL ability and highest MedUse|CMUse in the group). Right now the potency (resistance stat) on poisons are quite high. And, our advanced resilience comp (which governs potency [lack fo resists rates]) is fixed in TC, meaning ability to resist will decrease (CMs can divert exp points to damage more instead of it now). I do not think that this is something SLs should have on their own. However, there is every reason to believe a SL when paired with a Doc or CM can and should impart some bonus to resisting piosons and diseases.

Politically the landscape is ripe for this. The devs know there is no effective cure to AOE piosons right now, and have bumped doc single cures a bit to help out. This would be a massive boost to your profession, it's in character, and it's sorely needed in the game. I would even support the notion that this is against more than just resist rates. Think of it as a negative bonus on damage too. CMs can find +25 CM Effectiveness loot that boosts range and damage. There's every reason to believe that a SL with the help of Doc or CM in the group can and should have reasonable modifiers to negate these benefits. For example a modifier of 30% would not only increase resist rates 30%, but alsodecrease duration and damage 30% if it got through.

I would support you on this notion as I firmly believe the ability of CMs to be effective Raid Busters is not the intended vision of our class, or the game. What should be feared in this game is a tactically diverse and cohesive party lead by an SL in group PvP, not a lone CM standing like Wyatt Earp in the middle of town ready to lay waste to a group of 20.

I hope that you would consider these two suggestions. I think that they are not only in character with your class, but also do not jeapordize the vision of CMs (heck they may help it).
