First, let me apologize for using all caps in my earlier post. It wasn't any more important or urgent than any other post on this board.
That said, I have a question: Having already perused this forum for a good three weeks, I've noticed that the general consensus is that the profession is somewhat broken and that quite a few of you have ideas and suggestions that would make this profession better. Once I have a bit more experience under my belt, I'm sure I'll be joining in. I've picked up, here and there, quite a few new insights. In particular, I've used the SL Guide and quite a few of your posts as a template for my personal playbook of tactics, techniques and procedures. But my question is this: Given the shortcomings and drawbacks inherent in this profession, could somebody point me to a concise repository (if such a thing exists) on maximizing the strengths of what's currently available? If no such thing exists, please post any tactical insights that would help me help my guild and other players? Any tips and tricks would be appreciated. Any anybody help a brotha out?

Ok a few things i do and recommend.
1. learn how to use /sys it will probably be one of the most important skills you have. (especially in a large group PVP situation)
2. Form up is basically become essential in the GCW as it cures dizzy and stun.
3. This past week i have been called an exploiter because a guild set a few bases at the bottom of a huge hill and i have been using that as a staging ground to attack. The accusations have come because none of the defending players have terrain negotiation and my group has a +60 terrain (as i am master SL) and the defenders could not catch them running up and down the hillside. This being said terrain neg. is a great and welcome bonus to having a SL as leader.
4. What i have also noticed is the ranged and melee defenses will in fact exceed the 125 cap if a SL is leading the group and that has had a significant increase in people wanting the leadership of a SL. I have also tested this here in the past week to verify that the defenses granted are in fact the only way (other than skill tapes and AAs) to exceed that 125 cap.
5. I rarely use the other skills now as our fail rate is still extremely high and some i just don't flat out see them working. With the exception of retreat. Retreat has become my "Charge!" as has been stated in many other threads on these boards.
i was a SL from the start of the game, dropped it to do my grind and picked it back up immediately after and have been testing and seeing how things work now and how they are different (Not from updates or fixes to the proff) based on how the play styles and players have changed from back in july and august of last year.
There are a lot of us on this board that has been a SL for a long time, dropped it and picked it back up, or have just been waiting on the revamp. I am sure there are a ton more ideas that you can browse throughout this forum so don't just take mine as the rule please. Test and play around with things and see what best suits you. Squad Leader is not just our skills but also our ability to lead groups that makes this still my most desirable proff.

Thanks, Stratta, for the rapid response and the pointers. I'll make sure to add them to my (for now, mostly-empty) bag of tricks.

Stratta, can you confirm that skill tapes and AA's do in fact exceed the 125 cap? I am getting many conflicting stories on this question.

Personal Cap is 125...anything beyond that is SL super powers.

Jounville,
I'll pose the same question to you.... How do you know this? What credible information has brought you to your conslusion? Have you tested for yourself? Did you see an official statement from SOE?
Thanks

When pressed for an answer Keldarin specifically told us that SL, Food and SEA bonuses can go over the +125 max.

You are telling me that Clothing and Armor attachments do surpass the cap? I though I noticed a substantial difference. I am maxed at both +25 in skill attachments.

They are supposed to be able to. Now, I don't know what happens when you have SEA and SL bonuses together. I believe they are supposed to stack and go over the +125 but I don't know if anyone has spent the time testing it.

Please Pardon my ignorance... but who is Keldarin? I am new to theprofession boards. I just want to know so when someone asks me, I can give a credible answer. BTW, since I am maxed on ranged and melee defence tapes and I have a SL, I will do some testing.
Thank you DiLune!!!
