· Are you knowledgeable about the Squad Leader profession?
· Are you a community leader?
· Can you objectively identify relevant issues and distinguish them from simply passionate arguments?
· Do you like organizing information and corresponding with other members of a community?
The Development Team is looking for a volunteer correspondent for the Squad Leader Profession. Participation is completely voluntary and you can stop helping out at any time. We’re just looking for someone who can help us sort through the various issues for this profession.
Some things that you need to consider when applying:
· Developing online games takes a long time. Results happen with long time involvement.
· Player Correspondents should be leaders in their community and set a positive tone.
· Player Correspondents should understand the technical aspects of playing the profession and the needs of their community.
· Player Correspondents should be in touch with the communities concerns, understanding the essence of why players pursue their chosen profession.
· Please include your forum name in the letter
If this is something you are interested in, please write a short paragraph on why you think you would be a good candidate and email it to [email protected]. Please putSquad LeaderCorrespondent in the Subject Line. By submitting this email to us, you agree to allow us to contact you in connection with Star Wars Galaxies and agree that all correspondence with and material submitted to SOE will be the exclusive property of SOE and SOE may use such materials without limitation and in its sole discretion.
After we have reviewed the submissions, we will pick one person to be our correspondent. We will set them up with a special community title here on the forums and ask them to help highlight for us the relevant issues relating to this profession.
We will still continue to monitor the forums and read as many threads as we can. The correspondent is just to help us focus on the top issues and community concerns of the profession.
Thank you.
I'll second either of Dogg's nominations. It appears that both are willing to step in and do the work, according to recent posts.
Not that any of you should remember me (as I semi-retired from Squad Leader way back when Vemnox quit) - but I threw my hat in the ring as well. I'm sure any of you would do a fine job. I'm just happy that we are getting some long overdue focus and attention. Mandalorian armor will almost be worth the wait all by itself. Woohoo! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have 900,000 SL XP that I've been saving for just such an occasion.
I have applied for the position having been a Master SL since the first month of the game. If accepted I promise to reflect the opinions of the Squad Leader community in the best way possible, remaining active on the forums. If not then I give my full backing to whoever becomes the new correspondant.
Regards
and just for the record:
Ill support anyone who gets the position. Id really like it and feel I can do a top notch job given my long experience with the profession.....but no hard feelings to who gets it.
I honestly expect DiLune to get the position because he is:
A) Already a correspondent
B) Sinc ehe is a corr. and has had access to the Corr. forums and more communication with the devs he ha sbene able to bring us info, etc that others of us could not. Kind of has had a monopoly on the whole situation that others of us could not havehoped to have.
ANyway I go into this with the premonition DL is gonna have it...but bets of luck to everyone who applied. I havnt seen a person yet who has applied that ha snot been a long standing member of the community, who does not know our issues, and who is not capable of doing a good job. I think our list of potentials is full of wonderfulyl competent folks and whoever gets the position I think will really uplift this community.
Agreed Panzer.
With the SL update coming its imperitive someone who spearheads our community is fresh and ready to take on the responsibilities. Ive very much enjoyed everyones posts in here and im sure whoever gets the position will take us forward in the direction we deserve. If we do become a much more popular proffesion there will be new challenges ahead that we havent faced before as an influx of players move into the proffesion, it will be interesting to see. I feel I am up to this challenge but like you I know the other people that have applied will do a fine job, and that puts us all in a nice position.
