Thread: SL Revamp Idea Radical Change

I was speaking a a friend about the changes to SL the other day and was discussing changing SL radically so that it no longer used SP. Basically it would become something you had to do group based quests to attain. The only mods and specials it would retian would be the ones specifically geared towards leading a group and in addition to this, the effectiveness of those specials would be determined by group size, and would only work with a group of other players. A full group of cl80 would give you additional bonuses above and beyond the normal specials, perhaps on a percentile basis. And the last benefit would be the ability to wear any type of armor in the game, so that you could adapt to the situation you were in, however, unless you were the group leader, you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the ability. As the game is moving more towards group based combat, it could add a new layer to grouping, and give some new life to SL, which never seems to be *just right*.
Any thoughts?

I don't think anyone would be really satisfied if Squad Leader were changed in this way. We want to be full-fledged citizens of SWG, having to go through the same trials as everyone else and subject to the same restrictions. Group-based quests are great, but they should be a benefit of being an SL, not the way to become one.

Unfortunately I disagree with this idea, making it so anyone can get the SL abilities isn't fair to long time veterans or new SLs alike that just want to see squad leader have a place among the rest of the professions.
I would support an idea that would involve a faction ranking system that goes above the rank of colonel, basically making you overt 24/7 like jedi and have HQs and stuff. This is another story though...
