Thread: Capt. V Please Read
Cpt. V, First off, thank you for all your hard work getting us the attention we need.
The
Sorry, hit the tab accidently.
The purpose for this thread is to get anyone that is truly interested in this profession (not taking it because the holocron said to). I would like to ask everyone for honest, good suggestions for the profession.
I have read about combat bunkers, and mind healing, and other GREAT ideas. I think that we need to get organized in what we want, as a profession, and priortize what needs to be addressed first. sorta breat things into "needs" and "wants"
Personally, I feel that the profession needs one thing that only SL's can do, that will make other's WANT to group with us. Raly is nice, but does little. What we need is a skill, or ability that will make parties look for us. seek out the SL and beg him/her to lead them into battle. I think mind healing would do the trick. as has been stated in a few other threads, as the "grizzled combat vet" we would be able to motivate group members to focus, and to continue to fight, to push them farther than they would normally go. I think that this one skill, given at a mid level of the tree, would help alot. possibly start out with being able to heal one character at a time, and as you move up the tree, be able to heal the group.
Also, the concept of the combat bunker needs addressing with the devs. I know we've ran through this many times, and the whole reasoning for nothing in this direction has always been "it'll make the Rangers mad" and to that I say "you're not a combat profession." What I propose is a combat bunker, with any benifits given only to combat. period. no healing, no crafting, none of that. but a defensive position to fight from, that would help build the group into a fighting force, not a bunch of people running around. That's about it. I know there are many other good ideas out there, so lets hear them guys, All I ask is make sense, and have it be within the realm of the profession. thanks.
1) A bonus to to /rally.
2) Combat Bunker
3) Lowered HAM costs for group members.
4) Mind healing is just wrong. If we must have some sort of "healing" thing, give us a general boost to stat regeneration.
good sugestions here, I WANT them all. to keep playing a squad leader, I NEED some of them.
Mind healing is an interesting concept for the Squad Leader. I suppose it makes some amount of sence, too. I suppose the justification would be somthing having to do with a moral bonus. Here is what i invision:
/yell comeon boys, you can DO it!!
(squad leader is incappacitaed bylarge amount of damage)
Images of puppy dogs and candy float in the minds of SL's team mates-- 50% of mind damage of all group members is healed.
(squad leader is slain by tusken raider)
Sounds good to me!
SL's should not have mind heal.
If anything, we should get some sort of "advanced rally" where the mind regen is boosted, allowing them to heal themselves. We're not medics: No healing for us. Even with the command you described, eapers, it would make more RP sense this way.
we just arent a healing profession, i guess you can find ways to justify giving us mind heals but then again if your creative enough you can justify just about anything.
id rather see our focus to be a support profession which is what we are supposed to be. the first thing that needs to happen is the DEVs need to fix the skills we currently have so that they do what they are supposed to do for the ones that dont work, and adjust the ones that do work so that the consicenses dont out weigh the benifits. thats where they need to start, then once our profession is acctualy where it should have been at release THEN we should push for new content. if they add new content before they fix everything else then we will probably just end up with new broken skills to go with what we aready have
OK, these are ideas we've looked at pretty good. but my question is what do you guys thing is a skill, or boost that we can give the suqad that would really make us sought after? I mean, when there's a Kryat Dragon hunt goig out, you see people yelling for CH and medics, but how ofter is there someone yelling in the middle of AnchorHead "hey, we're going hunting, any SL's out there?" I'm thinking never, since we don't bring anything SUBSTANTIAL to the table. That's what O'm looking for I guess. something that only we can do, that makes us not only viable, but desireable.

In the most recent Squad Leader report already and clearly stated. I also have a thread in the Correspondent forum where I reply to my own thread with every new idea that's even mildly supported.

I agree, as I've said several times. HAM cost reducer, mind heal, unique-unlockable abilities for each class, XP increaser, and more have all been suggested here and I've sent them directly to our Dev's multiple times.
Also, the concept of the combat bunker needs addressing with the devs.
I ran this by them the first time it was posted. I personally don't think it's a good idea at all. That doesn't mean I won't give them the idea, nor will I tell them "I don't like this idea, but here it is..." (or something to that nature). I've learned one thing from these Dev's - they hate things that play off other things. Anything remotely close to anything else will get shot down. This "combat bunker" has been mentioned to the Dev's, but it's not something they need to look at immediately, there are other priorites such as fixing the skill trees, implementing reasons for the SL to be grouped, fixing the XP (???), and other imporant things. I know people would like me to spoon feed the Dev's every little thing we come up with, but there are limitations. With TH in the co-pilots seat now, the wheels are at least finally beginning to turn and eventually where we can to a point where we can give nothing but ideas to them. Enjoy the small community we have now, because - and quote me - we'll be the flavor of the month by the end of the year.
Thanks Cpt.V
Since I have decided to stick with it, I appreciate your input, and since I know that I'm kinda reposting on some old ideas, I appreciate your response.
