I forgot how long I've been a SL, but I've been using rally in practically every fight that I've lead my groups into. However, it wasn't until I was helping out a new character that I noticed. I was leading my friend around, showing him the ropes since he's new to the game. He was working on getting levels in brawler, and was attacking creatures in melee. I had the group rallied, and basically stood by to step in should he need the assistance. At anyrate, he was busy attacking a squall. While rallied, he didn't seem to be taking much damage. However, the second rally wore off he started taking MAJOR damage. I rerallied(after he took about 5 more big hits), and again he took less damage. He moved on to a nightspider, and I noticed the same effects. When rallied, he took far less damage than when he wasn't. I know it needs more experimentation, but I felt like sharing this with the other SLs out there.

Has anyone else had similar effects? I primarly lead groups in fights with ranged combat with rebel NPCs or thugs, so I was rather surprised when i saw this. I've never seen any real effect for rally in ranged combat, but this is a big show for it in melee in comparison.

it raises accuracy and defense. Ranged don't usualy care about defense, cuz they dont' get hit. As such, rally is benefitial to mellee more because they take advantage of both bonuses.
