Thread: SQUAD LEADER is the best profession in the game.... or, could be.

Leaders in real life are a needed thing... in SWG this is not true currently.... however, i think that i have an idea that could solve that and make SL's a needed and valued part of the game.


#1. we know leaders are morale boosters. in my time in the army, leaders were there to support the troops and make them ready for battle "mentaly". it was a process of preparing the troops to go into battle and no matter what horriable things might happen they could continueand finish the mission.


i think that giving the squad leader the ability toHEAL the mindwould be a great way to make him a very valuable member of the team... that ishis job anyway.. to make sure the squad can continue to function mentaly till the missions end....


thats my 2 cents... let me know what you think.... and expand on it too... im interseted to seeotherpeoples ideas.

unfortunately... SL is going to stay the WORST prof in the game...


they gave mind heal to Combat Medics. I think...


even tho CM was already one of the best profs in the game... they got the love

This is a great idea!!!


and even though i know the devs wont care, someone should try and share this idea with them!


Its perfectly in the spirit of the profesion, and its exactly what the combat system needs!

combat medic mind heal isnt as good as you think they are expensive to make and they give you a **edit** load of mind wounds when you use them

The CM mind heal is still better than the mind heal we have.


Actually, now that you mention it, everything from CM is better than anything from SL. From any profession, for that matter. (rifleman comes close...)

This idea is one of the reasons i wanted to be a squad leader. Have any of you seen that film called "Enemy at the gate" or something like that. Its about Stalingrad mostly, and nearish the start/middle these russian soldiers are in like boats crossing the river, and there all these Russian leaders reading out stuff to their men, trying to keep their morale up, while all around them, their fellow soldiers are being shot to peices. If only squad leaders in SWG where that dramatic etc

It eems more realistic to me that morale would be represented as a buff rather than an instant heal.

How about not a heal or buff but an increased rate of regen. As in buffing only the secondary mind stats. As dancers can buff the mind, SL should be able to buff the FOCUS and WILLPOWER, you know the things a good leader gives you. A FOCUS and the WILLPOWER to continue!

I like Zardon_Rewot idea, it makes a lot more sense then a SL healing mind. Like he said a leader helps give his troops the willpower and the focus to suceed.

Musicians buff Focus and Willpower. Sorry.


Let's recap: Doctors heal and buff Health and Action and the internals, Combat Medics disease and heal mind, Dancers heal Mind and battle fatigue and buff mind, Musicans heal mind and battle fatigue and buff focus/willpower. Chefs and Smugglers craft buffs for all the various HAM pools that anyone can use.


But Squad Leaders get..../SYSGROUP--we still have sysgroup! WooT! But I think that needs to be nerfed: using "/sysgroup \#FF0000\Congratulations! You have unlocked your Force Sensitive Character Slot! \#FFFFFF\Sacrifice your current professions to begin your Jedi training..." is far too powerful against newbs who might not knowa joke when they see it.



....I hope I haven't fallen to the Dark Side too much here. Thunderheart, when you find your way here let us know and we can point you to the threads where we actually have some suggestions to make Squad Leader something more than worthless. Squad Leader COULD and SHOULD be the best profession in the game, but right now we're more borked than Chef, Droid Engineer, Carbineer, and Fencer combined!


(at least we can get a ton of xp now)

I like the idea. I'm not sure why they gave mind healing to combat medics. If anything it makes more sense to have either SL's or entertainers heal the mind. I'm not currently a squad leader (would be if I could find a trainer) but am looking into it and have checked the skills out quite abit. It has a lot of good perks in it if your in a group that is. Wouldn't it make SL's better if they could use those same perk's on just themselves also when going solo, such as (Rally, or stay on target) to get bonuses to there attacks?

can anyone tell me where a SL is located?
