Squad Leader Archive
Thread: SL may be *exactly* as he is thought to be...
Squad-Leaders have a percentage of 0.46 of all players - multiply with 20 and you have the percentage of players who can be grouped simultaneously: 9.2
Now lets do the same with CHs: 8.66 * 20 = 173.2!?
See? It is *impossible* that SL becomes as good as CH! Ever! You'd even have a hard time with a professions as popular as BH to find a group you can lead.
SL deserves to get better than it is but I see a whole bunch of people jumping on the bandwaggon if it does: Lots of generals, no privates... Maybe this is the reason why the devs are reluctant to fix our profession (note - this is just a wild hypothesis!)? We, who love it, stick to it after all - or we won't be here; like those who quit in frustration.
As I am the only SL in our PA and didn't have to fight any competition so far: How do you deal with the fact if there are two or more than two Squad-Leaders in your PA?

I don't know about the not fixing thing theory. But, I just hit SL last night and there is another a few days behind me. So, I have put thought into the idea of 2 SL's in a group. Normally, I would say rotate leadership formission runs or missions. But, with the current XP earning situation, I'm going to try and power grind my way to the top before he hits novice. Then, I'll help him level up and be there to train him.
The biggest problem I see with 2 SL's rotating is that each will have a 'style' and each group member will have a preference for one of those styles. It will really depend on the 2 SL's understanding that the best way for each of them to level is to cooperate and take turns with the entire group. After the SL's have leveled to the point they want, they can have seperate squads. It just requires the SL's being mature about things until then and not undermine the actions of the other SL.
I'm not exactly worried about it. I'm one of 2 SL's on my whole server that I know of. I figgure if that time ever comes, we can split the groups or switch off.
-IF- that time ever comes. I had to take a break from SWG cause of the SL issues. I just couldn't see going home frustrated from work and hopping on a game and getting frustrated. The only place I permit myself to be that masochistic is in... well.. not in a computergame >

With SL you will not get groups based on your characters skills, you WILL get large groups based on your OWN skills to lead a group. I have effectively lead many large groups into battle and I constantly get tells "are you hunting?" "are you grouping anytime soon?". So if you are thinking people will want to group with you just because you are SL you are sadly mistaken (mainly because most players are ignorant of what SL's do for them).
We have 4 SL's in our PA. heh.
Iruc,
lol. I've been a squad leader for a while on your server. I actually get frustrated about SL when I read the forums, but when I play I have a great time. Just my 2 creds.

We don't want to be popular! we just want our skills to work!!
The hell with %, SL will never the most popular profession, a 1/20 player ratio is already too much, we are leaders, we need men to follow us, what if all men are leader themselves? O_o
