Thread: Questions about SL abilities (and small complaint)
Hi all,
I am one of the few who has chosen SL myself, instead of one of the holocron followers... But i have a few questions.
1) What does rally actually do, and is there a point that it works better? - I can /rally my group, and it lasts what seems about a minute, after that i constantly fail to rally. Is there a time limit before i can rally again?
2) Does /formup work on pets?
3) Does /retreat base the burst run efficiency on me, or everyone individually? - i.e. if i do /retreat are the players who are not at exp 4 going to be able to keep up, or will their burst run expire sooner?
4) Does /volley start combat, or simply target for others? - i.e. can we stop near a lair, and i initiate the combat by targetting and doing a /volley?
And now for the complaint... and i'm sure that the flaming for this will far supersede the answers to these questions:
I personally think that they fixed the xp TOO well (if this is how it used to be, then no wonder they nerfed it) - When i started playing last night, i had 0 SL xp... now i am 0132 and about halfway to 0232. This is from playing for about 3 hours in a 9 person group. 17k xp per defiler killed is too much ![]()
I guess atleast now all the people that are just here to master and drop will stop complaining and just move on ![]()
For what it's worth, I agree with you about XP. But it's finally an eventthat actually benefits me, so I'm milking it. I consider it compensation.
As for abilities, I haven't found any of my commands to do anything noticable, and I have yet to see /formup cure dizziness or blindness. I could be expecting the wrong effect out of it, but my ppl stay dizzy and/or blind. Actually, it may not be dizzy & blind. Doesn't matter. No condition I use it on is cured. The latent abilities seem to work, tho.
But at least I'm getting points now.:-)
I've had /formup clear stunning effects reliably. But I have to agree with the initial poster - I've got no idea what /rally precisely does. And it seems to fail all the time. Once in a while I'll have a lucky run with it but when I really need it it just wipes my mind HAM out (this could be dependant on group size - when on big missions/quests with larger groups I notice this effect more often).
A) What does /rally do in numeric/defense terms? How much does it help me? Is there any increasing effect with it as I advance up the skill ladder (doesn't seem documented if there is)?
B) Make it reliable! Why should I use something which does significant damage to a non-healable stat (mind) and it only works 1 out of 3 times (if I'm lucky).
I noticed last night that on a successful /rally, damage from the group went up about 10% and damage to the group went down about 10%... But then it failed the next 8 times i tried to use it...
So, as it turns out, it's a great ability when it works... but i wish it would last longer than 1 minute, and could be done more easilly. - Maybe add a skill mod in the treein a couple placeslike Rally +10, Rally +15... Which give you a much lower chance of failing to rally the group.
That is odd. I'm pretty sure I've been KDing folks with pistolwhip and low blow while rallied. One of my crew is a TKA and he hasn't said boo to me. Hmm...
(((My Squad Leader is more of a resistance cell leader concept. With just two other folks we can take down bases and handle just about any PvE situation or adventure. SL/Commando/Smuggler/Pistoleer. I pickedLeadership as my main SL branch because the 'Boost Morale' ability looks good and much of our fighting goes on against critters without ranged attacks (even if we're on GCW missions) so the melee defense boost looked good. Also have two levels of Tactics for Rally and a modest group ranged boost. Folks who already have good ranged defense or use defensive tactics and posturescan get some mileage out of that I've noticed.))
I somehow managed to master squad leader tonight. Last week, I was 1/1/1/1... in four days, I became a master. There's something screwy about that xp.
In a single fight, with about 12 of us in a group on Dantooine, I got (and I'm not lying) about 800K experience. Granted, the fight lasted for about 30 straight minutes, with rather large creatures, but that is just ridiculous.
The one thing I wish I could do as a squad leader is increase the speed on everyone's attack. I don't know why that was never added.
