how many ppl do i need in my group to actually get xp for this ..can i have just 2 or does it have to be big?

the XP starts with the first object you group with, but increases rapidly as you get more until the 20 cap....

Just goto dathomir and join an enraged rancor party, I maxed out at 900k xp in under 5 min.
