Squad Leader Archive
Thread: New to the profession.
Your in for a Big Pain for the most part unless your good at leading people, before you become a SquadLeader. Its a Job that some people take due to a Holo, other because they think its fun to do, and for most of us because its just how we are.
About half the skills dont work exactly right, most just don't have enough information on them if you research it any place in game.
Dont use the Improve Moral ability ever until its posted that its fixed, its supposed to spread the damge evenly through out the group. Instead it spreads out the wounds on everyone.
Rally is a great ability, except it prevents anyone (you included) from doing several things while rallyed, drag, harvest, teach). It increase the accuracy and I think the Dmg the party causes during combat. Great for Krayt hunts personally.
Steadyaim is great, it increase the accuracy of the group for one shot after you use it. Works the same as the /aim command you can use as an individual, except the group doesn't waste 1 combat round aiming in on the target.
Retreat is great up it should be renamed personaly, I have never used it to retreat from combat. Used it at times in PvP to charge in on the enemy. Others have used it to actually retreat from combat. To each their own I guess.
Formup can be a life saver in PvP or in normal combat. It cures Dizzy, Stun, and a couple other status for everyone in the group except pets. Only one problem is you can't use it with any of those effects on you at the time.
The Bonuses you give a group as you go up in SL skills is really good. They do work, especially the Ranged and Melee Defence mods. The terain navigation mods are good for combat while hunting on the rougher worlds or in rough terrain.
Other than these perks, hehe. expect massive drain on your action and mind pools if you use the abilities to fast during combat. Hit to many in a row and your a 1 hit incap fast. especially the mind pool.
Expect no supprot from CSR or Devs as a SL, don't ask when they next fix will be for SL,
THEY DONT EVEN KNOW!!!
My best advice to you is find a good group that has hunted together many times, if your in a guild that would be a good place to start looking in. THey will be able to help you out a lot when it comes to directing a group in combat or while hunting.
You might try taking a small group of no more than 5 or 6 people counting yourself out hunting Kliniks on Yavin 4. They are a good fight to say the least, just bring 1 or 2 tanks and a doc with you just to be safe.
Once you get good at it start leading hunts on other worlds for the toughest creatures you can find, NightSisters and Krayts would be the high end hunts. Good loot and a tough Fight.

"May the Rally be with you as the Devs aren't"
For now, I think we'll just stick to the "If you like to lead groups, be a squad leader." mentality. Their skills aren't really worth it now unless you be a good leader.
