Personally, I love it. During big PvP skirmishes, I just start spamming AoE's & simple attacks (I'm a carbineer, and have it all macro'ed), so I can focus on /steadyaim, /formup, and directing fire. It's all about seeing the "Bigger picture": Strategy, terrain, tactics, where will they go to regroup, who will they attack first, who is the "keystone" of their team?
SL is more of a play-style than it is using the tricks of your profession. While there are SL specific skills, few of them actually do anything worth a darn. Notable exception being FormUp....
That being said, as a Squad Leader you are supposed to provide the coordination of the group. Like the previous post, your job will be to keep the big picture, direct fire, keep track of groupmates and enemies. Its really something you are going to have to figure out for yourself and see if thats what you want to do.
Personally, I have my best moments in SWG when I am leading a group to an objective. Whether it be a simple lair or a base raid, I have a great time coordinating the attack, keeping people out of trouble and just filling the role of "LEADER". Of course, you don't necessarily have to be the "leader" of your group. If you just want to tag along and provide the minor buffs while some else calls the shots (you have to be the designated leader though) then so be it, but that will likely bore you and is a waste of XP.
SL has great potential. You just have to realize what you are getting yourself into. Don't expect any kind of awe inspiring power or even any great inherent abilities. Its going to come down to your real life personality and abilities that make your SWG SL character.
