Thread: Squad Leader Your PvP defence bot...

Ive been Master Squad Leader on my first and main character for literally ages now (along with master politician). I dont think I have used Jebu in a combat situation for so long now that he generally gets kicked to pieces by nunas. I have Surt and Kimberlina to do my fighting.


Anyway, my point being that until SL get a good fix up (which we all know it needs and have been waiting years for) then they now have a superb purpose for people with multiple accounts. They are quite literally a walking +30 ranged/melee defence modifier that will give you an edge over all other 125/125 capped opponents.


I know this seems wrong but while I am out fighting with my combat characters, then I will park Jebu grouped so I now have an advantage over opponents. To me thats a bit sad and something we tryed to avoid in all our discussions on how to improve the SL. We really didnt want to make the skill a static bot but right now if you have multiple accounts its probably your best bet.


So in a way the capped defences HAS helped slightly the usefullness of us SL but to be honest creating a static bot is not what we were looking for was it?

I actually had a similar question and you pointed it out quite nicely, I recently took up squad leader cause I was tired of having the "template of the month" (Ie. TKA rifleman and what have you or whatever) and since the hard cap has been introduced on defenses, does this now give people with squad leader alts a distinctive advantage over others?


It takes really no time and resources to master so will there be an influx of squaddies down the line? if so that is pretty sad, a class getting fixed is one thing, but being viable only through a nerf is another matter entirely.


So what do some of you veteran SLs think? Does the nerf make you more desirable to a pvp group or no? and Do you think being able to stack on capped defenses is a good or a bad thing? I ask cause most people don't even know what a squad leader is or does, no kidding..people have asked me what a commisar was, and that is just sad but kinda fun at the same time hehe.

defence increases seem to only work if you are within range of characters in combat. things like retreat appear to work planetwide.if you sl is close enough for the defense increase he is close enough that he should not be static - or he will soon be a dead static
