It would be nice to have a channel that was accessable by Squad Leaders of sufficient Factional Rank, since we are supposed to represent the leadership of our causes.

A nuetral channel could be accessable to all sides as a means to coordinate player events, truces, exploiters, etc. more quickly. The nuetral channel would not require factional rank to access, but only sufficient Squad Leader skill to access.

The channel would be simmilar to guild chat, cutting accross groups and distances. Or prehaps with limitted distance, with the Imperials getting a distance advantage because of thier dominance at this time in the story line.

It would be helpfull if it was possible to monitor who was accessing the channel. It couldadd to the game content if a spy/mole was identified to be monitoring the channel. A spy could be requested to drop thier squad leader skills and rank when identified. This would require cooperation on all sides and roleplaying. Prehaps it would be possible to deny access to the channel by those deemed to be spys or whoabuse/missuse the channel.

I had not yet read Metrical's post on battalions when I had decided to post this, but I think that this is different enough to merit a new subject. The factional channel would be more of a strategic nature, where the battalion would be tactical in nature. The faction channel would leave it to the squad leaders discresion on what information to provide to thier troops, their own spin on the information.

I know that leaders can be overloaded with information, but I think this would be better than /tells or planet channels for coordinating actions.

I had tried spell checking this once, only to see all of my work disappear, so I appologise for misspellings.

Absolutely. /tell's neverdo well in the heat of battle. This would be a great step forward in players doing something to preserve the integrity of PvP because no first aid for the sorry state of the GCW and PvP seem to be on the way anytime soon.

The Naritus Imperial Accord was one step players took on one server to coordinate things on one side of the GCW. This could be another step for all concerned.

Only problem is getting everyone on both sides to see eye to eye. What is acceptable terms for a truce would take some serious getting together. Why not have all SL's who are officers join this thread and lend the voice of your guild. Talk it over with your fellow officers and then add your input.

A neutral chat channel wouldfacilitate openbattlefield engagements. Bases are nothing more than early a.m. faction farms nowdays. That's fine as long as a guild want to keep puttingup turrets. But if an Imperial guild wants to challenge a Rebel guildto an honorable battle this would be the way to make it happen.

I dont knowthat the channel could be restricted in its present state, but it could be monitored. A possible problem with that is revealing who the SL's are before hand which may make them firsttargets. Communication breakdown is one strategy for winning.

Its a good idea. Even if its something that cant be coded into the game anytime soon, theplayers of SWG should do something soon to keep the "War" in Star Wars Galaxies alive.
