Unfortunatly SWG client doesnt let you use the \key at all, what you need to do is copy it from notepad and just use paste from in game.

When typing in the macro box... the backslash will not show up, but it can still be used.

Here is how you fix it:

Type out your macro without trying to change any of the colors. When its finished place your cursor in front of the word or sentance you want colored. Type out your color code, ie. \#FFCCCC\ using the backslashes. The word next to the cursor will dissapear on the first backslash but as you type in the hex code it will reapear. After the final backslash it should change the color of the word in the macro box, yet show no code.

Example macro to set the name of a harvester using color codes (not SL related but its the only time I use color in macros):

/name \#FF0000\irott's Mining

which shows up in the edit box as:

/name irott's Mining

I prefer to use aliases for anything SL related so Im not hunting for the right macro in my toolbar. Anyway... Hope this helped.
