Thread: Question on Passive Defensive Bonuses

I'm a Master Squad Leader not new to the game, though I don't watch these boards much. I was out with a new group of players last night and was told by several of them that the ranged and melee defense bonuses they were receiving from me were not displayed in their "Skill Mods" box under their skill windows. They checked "Melee Defense" and "Ranged Defense" as well as "Group Melee Defense" and "Group Ranged Defense."

I've searched this forum but haven't seen, is there no indication to a player that he or she is receiving these passive defense mods? I am (in case you need to know a covert rebel and the group members were all covert rebels).

Assuming there is no such "skill mod" indicator, have we verified that these skill mods work? This was a group of low level players (or at least new to the weapons they were hunting with) and each seemed tonote a "miss" by the attacking creatures about 1 out of every 20 shots...which suggests that +30 melee defense is useless.

This forum is an excellent resource, by the way, I need to visit more often.

The other people can't see the mods, you're right.

Tests have shown that a Master Squad LEader (+30 melee/ranged defense) does work, and gives about a extra 15% block/dodge chance.

Thanks for the fast reply. I never thought to ask whether the mods were visible before another player mentioned it to me.

At least they work. Whenever I get down about a lack of skill points, I console myself in the knowledge that (if I have a group of 20 people) I'm adding 600 melee defense all by myself. So it would be sad if my rationalization proved delusional.
