The /sysgroup command is arguably the most versatile skill that the Squad Leader has. Someone has already mentioned using aliases to color-code system messages. I like to take it a step further by setting my most common phrases as a macro and putting it into my toolbar. My sixth toolbar is full of these commands (I'm a pretty wordy person). I also made a chat tab that has only system messages in it because I'm so narcissitic
.
Doing the whole macro thing didn't turn out to be such a bad idea now with JTL out. When I'm fighting in the middle of space it's nice to know I have a premade command to bark out, as opposed to being forced to do a constant turn while typing out orders
. Maybe I should have my group members pick up teamspeak instead...

I also have a lot of fun with it, i just love typing:
/sys You begin to feel more attuned to the power of the force. Your force sensitive character slot has now been opened.

/sys works in space? cooool. I didn't even think about that (I also don't have JTL yet. The Walmart out here has been sold out for weeks. That's what I get for going to school in the middle of freaken nowhere... We don't even have a Best Buy!
).
Anyways, this it seems really handy. Thanks for the post.

I've considered putting a macro on my main toolbarpane which links to a whole bunch of /howl and /shout macroes on an empty toolbarpane, so that I "randomly" spout off Squad Leader-ish statements like, "Lay down cover fire!" "Where's my air support?" "Get in it, you slaggards! You don't want to live forever, do you?" "Hold the line!" "Never give up! Never surrender!" "Are you pointing your gun at ME soldier!?" "Move, move, move!" "Go, go, go!" "Push the advance!" "Has anyone seen my walkie-talkie?" "Control, we're advancing well, but we could REALLY use an air strike," "You must be &TT <Imperial's name>! I'd like to introduce you to straight end of my carbine." "Some one clean up these limbs, I'm gettin' filthy!""This stain's NEVER gonna come out." "For really intense heat, use RightGuard!" "Join the Rebellion, they said...See the Galaxy, they said!"
I could spout off like one of those toons on Warcraft when you click on them too many times.

I used to do "/sys \#50f111 Congratulations, you have unlocked your Jedi slot! Please log out, delete your character, and begin your path as a Jedi."
usually got a few laughs...
this was back before the holo grind...

Just recently, I've been commissioned to give tours of my PA's player city to new citizens and I had to set up some buttons that would send out colored /sys commands like "Welcome to the official tour of the city of Mos Star! Please keep all your arms, limbs, tentacles, etc. inside the tram at all times."
Oh yeah, I tried that whole "force sensitive" thing on my friend. Well, she didn't really appreciate it and pwned me in a duel immediately afterwards
. I think I'll try it on my guild boss next
.
