I just read the SL FAQ and it seems to me that the volly fire is the same as the assist command, one is just initiated by the SL and the other by the individual, is this correct?
The FAQ also reports that no specials can be used through the volly fire command, does anyone know if the same holds true with the assist command?
The reason I am asking these questions is in PvE and PvP, the ability to quickly get everyone in the group attacking (with specials) the same target is of great benefit. Is there any way to do this other than just telling people? I had hoped volly fire would, but taking away the ability to do specials greatly reduces its effectiveness.

Basically it just "PAINTS" a target, next time you get to fire your special, ever see 4 commandoes use flamesingle 2 at once? It's a beautiful thing

Incorrect.
/volleyfire will cause the group to fire at your target only once (without specials), then they will go back to whatever target they were firing upon before the command was used.

Currently volleyfire is a waste of skill points, does no real damage and a high fail rate and HAM cost. Eventually this skill will get tweaked and include special attacks and less failures based on your leadership mod. Only Irott knows what will become of Volleyfire
.
