Firstly... I need to to know what the range on a SL's abilitys are.. can i be standing as leader ofa nerfed solo group on dant,, and beable to affect everyone within 200m or 2k of me?

Secondly..... whats the best way to grind exp?

Thirdly.. for those that are riflemen(will askthis on rifles board to..) whats the best single tree(going 3 zero's and 1 4 ie 4000 or 0040) to go with SL.

First, this can be answered by just looking at the skill descriptions in you CTL+S window, or by DLing a professin calculator, but I will advise here. You can clean Stun and Dizzy (assuming you are not Dizzy, and you must be standing), you give everyone Melee/Ranged Defense mods (all the time), you give everyone a +40 Terrain Negotiation bonus (remember that anything over +40 Terrain Neg affects crawl speed, not run-up-hill speed), you can use /sysgroup to send messages to your group (you can even use macroes to colour-code them -- so fun!), give everyone ELSE in your group a boost to movement speed using Retreat!, and redistribute all wounds evenly, so that TKAs can meditate them away. Steady Aim and Volley Fire are, imo, useless.

Second, the best way to grind exp is to get a HUGE solo group (like 20 ppl), and just go kill stuff yourself. You'll get like 12k SL exp from killing a Piket!

Third, Speed tree is always your best option, but since Speed is gained through combat exp with Rifles, I recommend Sniping, since that will give you your heavy damage-dealing Mind-focused attacks, so you can kill faster.

Range on squad leader abilities:

The passive abilities such as melee/ranged defense, group terrain negotiation, and group burst runn efficiency are active throughout the entire galaxy. So if the squad leader of your group is on Corellia and you ar eon Lok, you will still get the benefits of these mods.

The active abilities such as formup, retreat, etc. are a different story. Basically every planet is composed several servers. Each planet is different. In order for the group members to get the benefits from the active abilitites they must be located on the same server (think region) as the squad leader.

XP:

Get a large group and go around and kill stuff. Tierce (a long, long time SL), aka Baciacca on these forums, once trained 2 people from novice to master in 2 hours (1 hour a piece) doing rancor missions on dath. The more people, the more XP you get per kill and the faster it goes.

Rifleman:
I am not sure why you would want only one tree in rifles. I would imagine you would do better to just not master SL at all and just get a few boxes. The one thing that I wil lsay about Master Squad Leaders is that we get no love from the devs with respect to the master box. There are no specials granted at master, and we get a whopping +5 to melee/ranged defense and a +10 to group terrain and burst run effiecieny. The +10 is pretty much useless though as you get +50 at 3xxx SL and anything over +50 only improves crawl speed. Also, the entire strategy line is useless. So you would most likely be better off going 3034 or something similar and investing those points in rifle. Just my 2 cents. Of course I am sure people that are more experienced and knowledgeable like Tierce can give you better advice.

Hope this helps.

I find the best way for XP is hangout at Ft Tusken on a staurday afternoon. You will get master if you want it.

The range on benefits vary depending on the ability. I'm not sure what they all are, but some are planet wide some, you need to be within a certain range.

Rifleman...I got nuthin.
