OK, ive really enjoyed this game up until this point, i have Been a Master Bio-Engineer on my server Valcyn since about 2 weeks into its launch, a Master Creature handler and serveral different types of combatant, both melee and ranged.

Yesterday i got a Holocron, and you guessed it, Squad Leader...

Now, im not adverse to spending a long time lvling up (Bio was a long grind). Things should not come easy, but SL is a support class and as it stands with the amount of exp i can get, its going to take months to lvl this to Master (playing on average about 40hrs a week solid lvling), being an Australian i play in off peek times, on a server that has lower population to start with.....

I suppose most of the SLs from choice will say tough **edit**, and i really see where you are coming from with this class as it stands atm.. Coming from the Bio-Engineers line i understand a broken class and the pains we go through to continue to play a class that SOE deems to be in the "We dont give a rats arse" section.

ill hang around for a while, but i cant see myself trying to lvl a skill that

a) i didnt choose (holocron) and

b) has no real use in the SW:G universe atm

Seems quiet fitting that in order for SOEs to keep the Jedi population down, they first make you surrender all your hard earned exp andplayer respect, to see people quit the game over the classes they are forced to chose even when they are currently broken.

Sorry about the rant, but i really am upset about this.

If you're really commited to following the holocrons then more power too you. SL xp is one of the hardest to get now, but if you stick with it, EVENTUALLY you'll get there but I can't tell you it's an enjoyable experience because it's not if all you want to do is master it an get it over with. Unfortunate is it that the Squad Leader can't do as much as one would hope right now, it's one of the few classes you have to 'Make' fun...the irony...oh the irony.

Anyways, it can be done, and if you were to get your Jedi slot from it then it would be all worth it, so here's hopin' you surprise us all.

*Cheers*

I hear your frustration.

Master Squad Leader was my second holocron. I have a friend in game that has Mastered Combat Medic, Master Weaponsmith and is almost done with Master Doctor (3rd Holocron) in the same time it has taken me to finsh 1 1/4 boxes in Squad Leader. Squad Leader is just impossible to master at this rate. If it were Bounty hunter or some skill that would end up being useful, I might be able to forgo the frustration of having to level up an imposed skill. I'm going to see what happens tommorrow and if a fix isn't in..well I'm going to have to pass on the game.

I started in beta and having Mastered 6 professions, done every themepark, gotten every badge, done about 90% of all known static missions and now I feel really stuck. My 3 month subscription runs out on the 28th and I really can't justify paying for more months just to wait and see if they get around to fixing Squad Leader. I guess I'll play FFXI and wait on WOW. I really really had high hopes for this game but the level of frustration has me logging in.. and just staring at the screen. Not fun.

Agewyn & Ulster hit the nail on the head. I'm trying to level in Squad Leader after my @#$% Holocron told me to master it and I have totally lost all interest in the game. I can't seem to find large hunting groups when I log in and I like to solo anyway.

I guess I can just forget trying to unlock the FS slot but I feel like whatever I do now is just wasting time. You need to be working toward something and with the lack of content, other than unlocking the Jedi, I feelit's time to move on to the next MMORPG.

I actually wish I was told to master BH. Sony, if you are going toask us to Master it at least fix the darn thing.

Well if you guys get SL as a holocron, consider yourselves some what lucky. That is because according to a theory, SL will be the last proffession that you have to master. The link to this theory can be read here:

so, you may be closer to unlocking an FSS than you think. Try to find a PA. I find it rather easy to get SL exp. Well maybe that is because my PA (Last Stand) goes on many Endor trips. If you stay, Good luck on getting MSL. If you don't, good luck on any other game that you choose

Thug,

I must be doing something wrong then. I spent 10 hours in the Crystal caves with a full group of 20 people for about 4 of those 10 hours and I filled up 1/2 of a first lvl box. I don't know where I could go to get more combat exp per kill per group member and still be able to get a group of 20 together. In the same amount of time I filled 4 1/2 boxes of pistols. I don't think getting a large group together and fighting hard mobs is the problem. I think the exp change is the problem.

The most exp I got for a kill was for a force sensitve Force Crystal Hunter that had Armor 2, 80% resists and 18k HAM. I had zero pets in the group at the time and got 2200 SL pts off that kill. As we running to the Crystal caves we killed a few Huurton Stalkers that got in our way and I got around 200 SL for those. So I dunno.. Have you been getting good exp since the patch ? I was told by another squad leader that before the patch he was getting around 20,000 SL exp per Force Crystal hunter killed.

2 weeks of playing every night for 6 hours and every saturday for over 8 hours and I have almost gotten my 2nd bubble in the Ranged defence tree.

I really wouldn't mind the wait if the bonuses were worth it. Like +20 ranged defence PER bubble. Or making my group terrain nav move faster than normal terrain nav does... But No joy.

As I said in another post, If you are working on another proffession at the same time, its not so bad. I'm working on CH and Carb for now and when I get SL xp, its a bonus (a very small bonus). I figgure I can master Carb, give it up, get Rifle, give it up and get Pistol and I'll be right around Master SL.

There really should be some sort of residual bonus for getting master in a prof and giving it up.

Just some numbers for you, to see how bad the SL XP is broken.

I picked up Squad Leader a few weeks ago. I led a few raids to the Tusken Fort on Tatooine, racking up anywhere from 5k-10k XP per dead tusken. Took me about 2-3 hours and I had the my first box, /rally.

They nerfed SL XP that night.

Now when I go to the fort, I'm lucky to get 300xp for each dead tusken.

AT least now, I do get XP for kills I don't participate in, which is good for a large group. So now xp comes in smaller, more frequent increments. Nonetheless, 3 hours for the first box, and it's been over a week (Squill Caves, Tusken Fort, Dathomir & Lok Hunting) and I just finally hit halfway through the first box in a different tree (Mobility).

Best XP I've found so far is Krayt Dragons. About 2k SL XP for each kill, if you live through it.
