No, i am not yet a Master Squad Leader, but in a few days im going to get started on it, so im wondering what would be a good elite profession to compliment Squad Leaders?
I was thinking of Fencer, because your leading the squad into battle, so you rush up with everyone behind you.
Or was thinking of Carbineer, because they use close range, and when your group is in deep trouble, issue retreat, and fend off the opposing forces with spam full auto's so your group can get away safely, even if this mean your death, but it would be a honored death.Im into PvPing and Roleplaying.
Or some other elite profession, what do you think?

I was fencer, and now am a carbineer. My personal thoughts are thatit is harder to beconcentrating on leading or helping the squad when you are in the front lines becuase you have to keep yourself alive and killing others.Carbineer is a big help, you're able to standback apply states and knockdowns.

There are a lot of professions that compliment it well.
I, for one, was a Master Rifleman as well. That worked wonders. You can easily defend yourself and help when it's needed. Rifleman is a well rounded profession. I also got the Pistoleer Tech Tree for extra defense.
But I dropped it and am now a Bounty Hunter. I know there is no defense in this, but when I do SL I never fight anyway. I just help out when I can.
A lot of people like Pistoleer. It is a very roleplaying profession for SL. If you notice in movies the leaders always have a pistol. So a lot of people like that.
Some also use Carbineer because it's a medium ranged. I almost did that.
But if you want to be really effective do Master Rifleman.
Brawlers and SL's don't mix and it wastes SP on top of that because you need Ranged Support IV anyway.

im a carbineer and squad leader. I also have BH carbines 4 to make myself more effective. In order to get that i had to sacrifice some SL ability but so much is broken that i basically just kept what was good. I would suggest pistolerr or carbineer especially for a roleplayer. Most of the time you see the leader with just a pistol for self defense or if you think like say WWII with the master sergants having tommy guns you go carbineer.
Personally gameplay wise i would suggest carbineer. Just last night i was giant kimo hunting with my guild and i was able to hang back with my laser carbine (which has a huge range to it) and avoid taking damage from the AOE attacks of the kimo. That way i was able to fight the thing from a distance and save my action and mind points for using formup and the like. And ill tell you that with my new laser carbine and my ridiculous speed from the Master Carbineer and BH carbines branch i was doing major major damage on the thing.

Can anyone tell me if SL would be of any value to a MCH? As MCH you are group leader all the time. Not to mention if you pull faction pets or get some befriended pets too. I looked on the FAQ to see if SL benefits extend to pets and it says that is "undetermined". I'd love to boost my pets' effectiveness and defenses with SL, but does anyone know if this works? Does anyone know if you get SL xp for being group leader with just pets?

Carabineer is a good compliment to SL, both support professions.

I agree with the rifleman/SL. Rifleman is great against npc's and SL is always a big help your guild. But bad thing about that combo that in a PvP battle, its hard to use rifle specials and SL skills with out killing you mind. You might as well go with no armor. But that makes you a target. I usually run around with just composite chest plate, the biceps, boots and gloves. I keep the Helmet in my F-keys just incase there are too many bad guys running at me. But i think the best way to go is to make sure you have a good CM at your side who you can trust to heal the mind. But after the combat medic patch alot of the CM's i know are jumping ship and finding new jobs. Thats what they get. Lol. Us SL stick with it to the end through the ruff times, but the CM's get a few changes for the worst and they all cop out. Weak...all of them! Weak!

I was going to ask the same question!
But as you don't do two things at once, why not play a support role, period! Doctor/SL? I am thinking about this myself, CM would be better but not enough SP.
Please let me know whatyou think, thanks!

Well If you factor in SL than CM and Doc have the same pre reqs unless they changed doc without me knowing. Both require master medic and than the ranged support line is in CM and SL so you dont lose anything. I dont think you would be able to master SL Medic and Doc or CM and still have the points for the Scout prereqs of SL but i would have to check on that. Either way a lack of offense just sucks.

I am a MSL/Carbineer/medic
I like Carbineer , cause it actually has decent range both close and far. I won't argue about the HAM costs , cause they are high , but i like the specials , and the damage is good too i think.
I also included medic 4-2-1-x because a good SL should be able to jump in and help an injured soldier.
the 3 seem to work nicely together so far/.
