So...I have 26 points to spend in squad leader.
I was thinking of going 1032. Form up. A bit of terrain negotiation. Melee and ranged defense.
Can any squad leader dabblers think of better?

Hi Nova! Joining the ranks of SL Carbineers, eh?
I'd instead go 0034. +25 terrain negotiation really isn't that great, in my opinion, and you can always look for Group Terrain Negotiation SEA's. Getting the extra 2 in Tactics will give you Retreat, a fairly useful skill, as well as another +10 group ranged defense. Of all my skills, I use FormUp and Retreat the most by far, so this setup will get you those.
I think this is the template that irott uses, though he could speak better on that subject.

with 26 points i would go like this
2013
Its important to get formup and retreat. Then you have enough skills to get some terrain negotiation and and burst run efficiency the rest can be done easily with seas.

I agree that Formup is essential, but do you guys really find Retreat that useful? I've got 2-0-3-4 now on one toon, but I really don't find it all that handy. But then, I'm not doing a whole lot of PvP these days, either.

I've never comes across Group Ranged/Melee Defense SEA's. I have, however, seen Group Terrain Negotiation. Are you sure the former exist?
And what use is Burst Run Efficiency in this day and age? Buffs do the same thing, only 100x better.

i have a group melee defense SEA im pretty sure but i would have to double check. And i guess burst run efficiency isnt really necessary so i guess going 1023 would be good.

/Formup really is essential , and retreat although i find usefull , isn't wot i would call Critical. But you definetly don't want o miss out on the group deff buffs.

at base......go with 1-0-1-0
terrain neg +25 is almost a must if you have non-scouts in the group, especially in PvP it gives your squad a speed advantage over any1 who ha sno terrain negotiation
formup is amust to cure states.
After that it just depends what you think youll be getting into more......ranged or melee combat.

I am currently a Master Carbineer/Master Bounty Hunter. But I switch about once a month to try a new template. It is getting to be about that time...
Thinking Master Carbineer/BH 0400/SL 1032/Novice Medic. Not totally sure yet. I don't really need BH as I have carbine speed tapes.
Also, I am hopelessly addicted to sprayshot... Surrending that Master BH is going to take some effort.

nova getting anything in SL is really not worth it. I mean yeah there a working skills and stuff but the profession is so broken and it takes so much in prereqs that its not fun to do. Basically the only people i find who think i am worth grouping with are jedi guildmates who use me for terrain negotiation and formup two first level boxes. If thats all im good for that is just sad lol

sure you can do withtout the speed but PVP confusion shot is the best thingsince sliced bread. the carbineer stats shots jsut dont stick nearly as often.
