Thread: Squad Leader to Meter Maid Documents
The current Squad Leader system was designed to be obscure and un-useful to both the player and the group they would lead. While filled with promise it was just not deemed a valuable profession to be kept in the game.
One of the key arguments for the change was the lack of cigars and fireplaces, and not to mention large mansions for these "Armchair Generals" to command from. Its not just a perceptual problem, because the end result is always the same... The players plantation is burned. For a majority of players it is just no fun to lose the land that was passed down from your forefathers. The few players who have achieved a high enough level to gain even the smallest farm quickly find that a "squad" made up of just your sons and a few hired hands will never be enough to fight off the attacking hoards from north of the mason dixon line.
A second problem arose when an implementation left over from beta provided the players with an unintended lack of special abilities. A few survived such as the Southern Drawl skill tree and the certs for "White_Suit", but few found the ability to /sdrawlgroup You younguns keep fat'n, n' ah'm gonna whup y'uh, useful. The few who did master the profession found the lack of skills created a empty section in their heart, that could never be replaced again.
The Squad Leader to Meter Maid Transmogrification System intention is to remove these problems by doing away with what Squad Leaders used to be and create a more modern and cost effective job market for those living in large urban areas. Some players may complain, but they will just have to forget their old ways and become part of corporate America. Ideally this plan will provide a free SUV to those players who stick with the profession.
Overview
The basis of the Squad Leader to Meter Maid Transmogrification is to plow under the farms and ranches of the past and pave over everything. Each section of land that is aquired by the state will then be sold back to the original owners at twice its cost, in some cases, we hope, even three times.
This change will keep with the current setting of group interaction by providing a urban utopia that not only allows PvP and much needed content, but the players no longer risk death by snakebite or measles. The key differences between the new profession and the old can only be measured on a overly priced personal computer (note: This item will be craftable by architects some time in the future).
Issues
Artwork
The new artwork for Meter_Maids will be done some time in the third half of 2019 since we have many gifted designers who are dedicated towards this project. Implementing a new interface for the profession may take a little longer, but some of the work that has come out so far looks to be promising. We are glad to announce that the wearables for this profession have been finished and looks great, or soon will with a little tweaking.
Currency
Many players have brought up the issue of currency in SWG, and though it is a topic near and dear to my heart, the developer team has decided to work with a version of online pesos. The larger they are the less they are worth and in most cases they will not fit in any sort of vending machine or parking meter. This is where MeterMaids are going to shine above the rest.
Transportation
Metermaid carts have been discussed, but at this time we find that rollerskates are a better solution.

1) Will rollerskates be craftable in different colors. I would like to create skates that match my hawtpants and
2)when is the metermaid revamp? Metermaids have been waiting way too long for the special /boot and /tow to be working properly.
