Thread: New changes finally coming? Woot! A suggestion....
The new proposals sound really good for us - I'm truely looking forward to them. Someone here had mentioned however that there was really no true "perk" to picking up the final "Master" box other than the standard stuff. Something I personally would like to see as that perk would be the ability to command more than one NPC. Now I know this is a touchy subject so...
*uses Squad Leader command voice* "HEAR ME OUT MAGGOTS BEFORE YA' GIT YER LITTLE PINK PANTIES ALL IN A BIND!!"
This would be an ADDITIONAL ability, not replacing/diplacing/removing any otherability, and only given at Master level. This would allow us to continue to lead players as we do now (so we don't become the dreaded NPC handler), BUT also able to call out up to 3 NPC factional soldiers as well (or "mercenaries" for neutral SLs). These 3 NPCs WOULD count against the max. group members number (8) whether grouped with or not - there by avoiding the 8 MSLs grouped together with 3 NPCs each. SLs could use the NPCs to bolster a groups number in case it was less than 8 (obviously Imperial SL's could only call out 3 troopers (not 3 AT-STs).The coding is already in for various NPC formations, so why not use it to give MASTER squad leaders a little extra reward for their hard work?
These NPCswouldn't be "given" at Master, only the ability to control more than one. You still have to spend your own FP to get one (or two, or three) - or for that matter none, if you don't like the concept. This way you can buy whatever you like in the way of NPCs. And who cares that they are only CL10-CL30 (or whatever)? So they get waxed alot....who cares? You can spend more faction points buying more if you want - the Devs love that (or don't, if you don'twant NPCs - no one is forcing their use on you) . It would certainly not be an "overpowering" ability used this way (i.e. unbalanced). And it would be fun to boot.Use those "cannon fodder"NPCs to fill out your group, use them to distract fire from your real soldiers (players), or whatever. Burn them up and buy more....it'll give you a reason to build up FP past Colonel again!
I think this would be a terriffic bonus for being a dedicated (i.e.Master) Squad Leader. It would makebeing a SL more attractive - I mean heck, if those"animal lovers" (CHs) can "command" numerous NPC pets, why can't MASTER SLsget a similar "perk" above and beyond the abilities they already have?

Sorry to sound harsh, but this suggestion has been over the forums for a hundred times over. Being able to get more people into group (but, no NPCs please) would be nice and helpful, but there are some reasons given that enlarging the team is not considered at the moment.

Umm...didn't I say that above?
This would be in ADDITION to all our other abilities. Sheesh. A perk, a bonus, a little reward for us MASTER SLs!
Cause right now (and probably in the future) we are nothing more than glorified CHEER Leaders. Yay! Go, team, go!

To me this statement says otherwise.
NPCs should not be given to people cause they master a certian profession.
NPCs are and should stay faction related.

Because the Devs don't normally give "perks"? If we got something like this, even just at master, it will run one of two courses.
- It won't be worth it. They'd give you something like 32 levels worth, something just completely pathetic. I don't see the point in being able to call 3 CL 10 NPCs at Master (already CL 54+ myself).
- Or if it was worth it, it would come at a cost, to be balanced. They'd let you call multiple AT-STs or your NPC pets could gain CL, but it would come at the cost of the rest of our abilities.
In others, logically it will not be a perk, it would have a cost.
