Congrats and welcome! Carbines are always a good fit with MSL and carbineer as a profession is a good profession in and of itself.

Was considering that at one point too. would be nice fire power. Though I play my character ass a quick strike type of guy. might try that combo for kicks n giggles though. or a var of it. part commando, part carbineer ( I love cripple shot).

As we've said in previous threads too, the Commando/SL combo looks fun, though be sure you have some sort of other combat profession with specials helping you out, since the commando gives you none and the SL doesn't give weapon-specific abilities.

Well so far MSL is my base class. thinking of having multi sub classes if possible.

a tree of carbines, pistoleer, and pikeman. wil let you all knowhow it goes.

I've heard of someone who has combined MSL with pikes and simply loves it. My guess is she wouldn't like it if the two didn't work for her. But having some damage shots from carbines tied in with the crowd controlling trees from pistols would be a very nice combo.

Well, I plan to have MSL, carbines 0.4.0.0, the tree with sweep attack for pikeman ( for area), and what ever I can get in pistols (something crowd control).

It allows for support, crowd control, and local area effect (only time I handle AOE is when it's lesser then me and I can get away with it). I don't have anything for healing, Instead I have 4 boxes for harvesting from scout.

I'm unsure what it would be like for PvP, though I think it would a fairly strong offence / defence worthy of a SL (at least the way I play).

I still haven't desided which tree I need for pistols for desent crowd control, but no area.

any thoughts?

My first instinct would be to suggest the stopping shot tree, but I'm a pistoleer by second nature and live (and have died lol) by the stopping shot. It doesn't break on damage and is especially useful against critters (at least the ones who can't spit at you). Solo or grouped stopping shot is one of the first attacks I use, and there's nothing quite as fun as rooting a particularly nasty opponent (npc or critter) then calling volleyfire down upon them, holding them in place for the eventual beatdown he/she/it will receive.

Hmmm, maybe I got a little melodramatic there. lol

root, snare, (short)area affect, not bad so far, will do the points check when I get home.
