Why? And why now?
I see the interesing documents you've posted on The Ranger revamp and the new Large Group mechanics your considering. Glad to Finally see stuff like this coming to light. That's what we've been asking for, an early pre-development look into what's going on so we can start discussion before the code is written, saving your time and ours.
But squad leaders got no such information. First news we got was when it went to TC. And the changes aren't even what we've been asking for. We had asked for Military-style benefits: Dropzone, Extractions, Recon, APC's, Overt in the field, bunkers & camps, and hundreds of others. All interesting ideas, all well discussed on the forums for months (some years). Instead, we just get alot of buffs and lose the one signature thing we did have: Passive benefits. And when we bring it up, it's basically too late to change it because all the code is written.
Why make us bards? Why not make Dancers and Musicians bards, wouldn't they be better suited for it? You've been (so you say) searching for a way to better integrate them into the GCW, well give them those Bard-like abilities, and give us what we've been asking for.

Aye... it's kinda ironic, the profession which always spoke about communication, asks for it, is centered around it, gets the upgrade built secretly in a dark corner and then thrown in front of their feet.
And the lone guys, outdoorsmen, all alone and in silence get communication right from the start. Good for them, i just wish we would have had the same sympathy, instead of just getting dropped the stuff on us like a rock out of the blue sky. ![]()
Anyways, the things are not on live yet... so there is still hope that the Devs now listen to us and implement our concepts of improvement. Far away from what we ever asked for, but if they do it well, it might still make a nice SL profession in the future, not all hope is lost. I just wish that communication will be better in the future.
