I encourage all my fellow Squad Leaders to sign up for the sandbox closed beta. This will take place after the initial testing with the correspondents and their 5 picks, so all of you who I wasn't able to choose may still get the chance to help test this stuff out.

The signup for the closed beta can be found here: http://swgcombatupgradebeta.station.sony.com

Squad Leaders are going to play a major role in combat... you might even say we are at the "center" of everything (You will understand when the Combat Docs are posted).

Just signed up, I don't even want to get in as bad as I want to read the combat docs telling us all the new things that are gonna be going in. But if I do get in I won't mind either

I just signed up. I hope the email doesn't go to my junk folder again like it did the last time .

You said that Squad Leaders will be the center of combat? I don't know if I can handle the sudden rush of popularity .

I strongly suggest reading Sirlin's Page Preferrably all of his aticles, but mostly his two articles on Game balance and if you enjoy them, his articles on "Play to Win"

Very good reads and he knows what he is talking about as well.

"You acknowledge that SOE may, in its discretion, charge a fee for the Beta Software and/or participation in the Beta Program, and your participation in the Beta Program is contingent on your payment of such fee(s);"

I got this from the terms of use agreement from the soe registration form. Am i reading this correctly? If that says i pay for beta, then count me out, as much as i want to play it, im not paying for a beta.

It just means that they can require you to pay if they so choose. You'd have to agree to paying, of course, so it's not like they're going to secretly bill your credit card. This is likely a clause to cover the possibility of shipping CDs or some other expense. Don't count on it actually happening.

That's my take, at least.

I'm up to this. Still remember teh old way of getting to squad leader that so many have no more the joy to do. Combat xp (well sl xp but it was the equivalent of the gain of combat xp)to grind squad leader was the best. Only the one that were really going for it were taking it.
