Thread: Ideas for a Charge ability

Seeing as we have a retreat thread going about how to make retreat used to retreat rather than charge I thought I'd start a thread to discuss ideas for a charge ability.
My ideas for Charge:
-Increase run speed to a little over burst run, maybe 1.25 burstrun speed
-Duration of about 10 seconds with no penalty to movement speed afterwards
-Penalties to accuracy and melee/ranged defense during the charge
-Needs to be balanced in a way that retreat will allways be better for retreating and charge better for charging. (retreat having faster movement speed but with a penalty after it's duration? Maybe a longer duration but penalties during it?)

I've not a fan of a Charge ability, I've pictured SL as a ranged combatant leader, not one leading meleers into the fray. I know any melee/sl is going to flame me for that statement. SL does need to pick up the ranged support line, and ranged clearly fits better then Melee. In any event with the roles the dev's currently have played out for us i don't think we will get a Charge! anytime soon.

Well I'm a melee SL but I'm not guna flame ya 
A SL leads troops into combat and melee fighters are still part of that group. The ranged support line, imo, is a pre requisite because a SL is a support character working at a range from his troops. The sqaud leader needs to have abilities to help all members of his troops function at their best. That includes helping ranged fighters be more accurate (steady aim) and should also include helping melee fighters get into ranger quicker. I also feel volley fire should be changed (and renamed) so that it permenantly changes the active target of all players, but that's another story.
