Thread: SL/Smuggler

I'm thinking of going SL/Smuggler and then some pistol skills, something like xxx4 or 4xxx. Is this template any good? I mean, smuggler has really low damage output, and SL had none. My defenses are quite ok this way, better than Pistoleer/BH/Smuggler, but how good usefull is Squad Leader in this template and/or in general? Would I be able to hit and do some good damage...? With pistoleer 4xxx I have a fairly good damage attack, bodyshot... So what do you think? Any advice/suggestions?

When I am done I plan to have a setup like this...


Brawler 4040


Marksmen 0404


Scout 1004


Pists 0004


TK 4000


MS


MSL



I feel it will be a well rounded setup think your looking at Melee Def: 160 and Range Def: 165....

Lookt good But unfortunately that is not possible After Pistoleer 0004 you don't have any skillpoints left...

It's funny you asked this, because I was just going to post how much I liked this exact template!


Last night, I finally found a template I liked for Givi:


Master Squad Leader


Master Smuggler


4 0 0 0 Pistoleer


4 0 0 0 Brawler


0 4 0 4 Marksman


1 0 04 Scout (May use that one boxfor FS skills later)


I must say the crowd control PLUS my own group control was very rewarding. I was able to root a target, paint it for the group, give the group accuracy and defense mods, and get in a few damage shots myself. I have finally found the template I will stick with for this toon.


*** One side note: using all these specials drains your action FAST. I had to sit for a few seconds between each creature, but with the root I never got touched, it was just action drain. I need to do some shopping for some food/drink/spices that boost action regen for this toon and he (meaning his group) will kick some butt!





Melvis (Scylla): Master Pistoleer, Master Bounty Hunter
Ishu (Scylla): TKM, Master Doctor
Givi (Scylla): Master Smuggler, Master Squad Leader
Ockewei (Scylla): Master WS, Master Artisan, Merchant in Training

I think you made me cross the line and I'm keeping this template.... Intimidator pistols are really pimp....

Hate to be the guy to rain on your parade, but those defense numbers are quite low. As a Master BH/Master Carbineer/SL 0404 I have 275 Ranged/240 Melee defense... and it's certainly possible to go higher.

Squad Leader/Smuggler is interesting, but I think you'd be hard pressed to make a competetive PVP template with it. You're burning a lot of points in Novice pre-requisites, so you aren't going to approach the mods a MBH-based template will have. You aren't going to do much damage and your crowd control won't be as good as a Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler. However, Smuggler is a lot of fun, so I'm sure you'll enjoy the template... and you'll be using a ton of specials to debuff the enemy, which feels good as a leader. But you probably won't stand up well in a PVP fight. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Concussion Shot is supposed to break on damage, but does not thanks to a bug. Once that gets fixed it won't be used the same way Stopping Shot is. But I definitely agree with you; for now, Smuggler > Pistoleer.

IMO Smuggler > Pistoleer. Stopping shot is what most jedi think is the worst attack, and almost every BH has it. What only few know is that Concussion shot from Smuggler does exactly the same, but has about 4x shorter cooldown. With my template now I am a good crowd controller, and a good group controller. With pistoleer 4000 I have some extra speed and a pretty good offensive attack. The only thing this template does not have is good skillsmods.
