oh, and to answer the question about using VF, i use it in almost every circumstance. when you're in a grind party, your mates will love that it speeds up the grinding.

just becareful on whom you use it and from where you use. VF pulls a ton of hate onto you. i cant tell you the number of times i've had nearly the entire herd of pickets or rontos beat on me because i dropped a VF onto one of them. event if the mission you have is for non BAF (Bring A Friend) animals, it will pull agro from nearby mobs onto you.

i have not tested this in much detail, but it seems if you are outside normal combat range (65 or 70+ meters) when using VF and then let your tanks start pounding you will see much much less agro from it.once VF has started and everyone is taking their shots, then you can approach and start shooting too.

In relation to Volley Fire, what sort of creature or NPC do you use volley fire on?

I was on Dathomir last night and was expecting to use volley fire when fighthing the largest of the Maklocs, CL84 Plainswalker. Other group members were a Master Bounty Hunter / Master Carbineer and Master Bio Engineer / Master Ranger so lots of Crippling shots and snaring traps were being used, The beast didn't get close enough to do much damage to us, it only did when a snare or trap didn't stick.
We were fighting sith pirates later and I was using rally and steadyaim but not volleyfire.

I'm guessing they would be useful against single big health creatures like a Krayt but not sure what else.

Use it plenty and everywhere. If you have more targets available, pick the strongest one.

If your in a mess of a battle, don't waste it on a half-dead target, try to pick something high-level with lots of health left.

It adds 15% to the damage of everybody in your team while costing you one attack... you won't find anything better.

Even if you are alone and only have your droid in team, the volley fire lastst for longer than 7 attacks, which is exactly the breaking point where loosing one attack pays off. (Volley fire and 7 shots fired yields you 0.625% more damage than 8 attacks without volley fire. For every shot more, the 15% damage bonus is absolutely for free... )

So if you the target is killed in less than 7 attacks, the volley fire was wasted, if you (alone or as a team) need more to kill the target, volley fire was worth it. Most targets thus are worth it and teams usually appreciate the increased killing speed, so use it a lot... Just make sure the team knows what it does, for many players the damage bonus is a very good incentive to switch to the target.

In addition make sure that your group knows which target you re going to paint.

If in the heat of the battle they cant target your target, or cant find it, they should use the pass through assist.

Targeting a groupmember and attacking him passes through your attack to his target, thus if you call a volleyfire let them target you and hit their highest damage dealing shot.

Might give them a ready to use alias or macro per email if you are grouped with some ppl regulary like

/alias vol /target *yourname*; /*highest damage shot*

eg
I as Liongtsiao as SL grouped with thille (MBH) and Kamm (MCarb):

thille:
/alias vol /target liongtsiao; /criticalhit;

Kamm:
/alias vol /target liongtsiao; /legshot;

when they see my colored sys msg which i put just before my volleyfire they just type /vol and automaticall would attack my target.

If you make macros out of these your group/guildmembers can add an icon to it and drag it to their toolbar too.

thx!
I just wish somebody in my group/guild would actually do that ...

Did I already mentioned that I hate 8ppl groups ?

Im always more busy coordinating two or three groups via /shout or spatial then rather attacking a base....
To many ppl are still used to solo everything, group based tactics are very very very very very very very very very did I say very rare. You always have one or two who dont get your msg eg wander off aggrogin NPCs outside the base and then running inside, hence inside the slicers gets aggroed and cant slice.

Also if you are grouped with jedi (which I currently try to avoid), they dont need any groupsupport since they can tank, heal and do damage on their own, thus in the end SWG still is a SOLO game.

Its okay for me but I once was at an PvP base raid with about 20 ppl (including one base buster a smuggler a Mdoc and me, the rest jedi)
and the jedi were just plain ignoring me (as the opposing force consistent of 80% jedi too). I go incapped by an lvl 80something NPC that was drawn outside and finally deathblowed by just someone who had the time.

/sigh

I was under theimpression that Volleyfire = Ranged Armour Break. Everyone in the group must be aware of which target is being volleyed!

As for the Strongest one First, I personnaly don't see how that makes any sense what so ever.

"/sysg \#5f00cc EVERYONE FIRE AT _____"

( haven't tested %TT or %NT, I'm guessing they wont work because of the /sysg being a command, but none the less it's a great way to tell your group which is painted when assist is bugging.)

Assist doesn't always work, bugs bugs!!

As for the "8ppl group", Did someone forget to tell you how to Create a Private Chat Channel?

What did you do with a group of 80 in the old system? not struggle in the same fashion?

Yepp I know how to make a private channel and I know the groupinvite command too.

Thing is, ppl come and go not everybody watches the chats/groupchat and PRE CU you had colored /sys command which would clearly get the attention of your group.

In addition, when we got one Doc in a 8ppl group and the other 8ppl group not, its hard for the Doc to keep track of their health bar and when one gets down, he doesnt know at all.

I do understand limiting the groups to 8ppl to balance "content" and dungeons, and the thing is that 8ppl groups can organice themself without a dedicated leader, so if the team works pretty good together I, as a SL, can fall back on less organicing and more playing MCarb.

But larger groups (like the PRE CU 20s) need a dedicated leader but especially in this case, where a SL is realy needed, none of our Sl skills helps us coordinating the groups.

I would be satiesfied (for the beginning) if it would be possible to form raidgroups with a raidgroupchat and if in that case my /sys msg would appear at the screen of all members of the raid groups thus accross different groups.
