Problem: Current Retreat! Encourages - ALT w/ Macros. Change Retreat! to give everyone including Squad Leader burst run.


Solution: Change Retreat! to Charge! and give everyone including Squad Leader Burst run.



Explanation:


First of all I'm a long time Master Squad Leader and to me, our bonuses and some of our special abilities like retreat lends to ALT w/ Macros as opposed to a full time at the keysprofession.


I've done the Necrosis/ Myddrill Cavernsand I refuse to do retreat. Why?


Because it uses 90% action/mind and I don't get burst run myself. This encourages a Master Squad Leader/Master Doctor Alt that is on autofollow. I've seen this on more than a few occassions. The fighting Squad Leaders are few and far between.


Retreat! should be changed to perhaps Charge! Retreat is never used as a retreat, I always use it at the beginning to get through tough areas. When it's time to use Retreat! You never have any action left. My squad gets through, except who? Me. I'm the slowest person in the bunch, and maybe I need to lose weight but this is ridiculous.


I can deliver a decent amount of damage, and want to keep it that way. However Retreat! is not all the while useful only on special occssions. With my Totchee Pistol - I can dish out 522 DPS. Respectable, not the end all be all.


I just don't want the profession to be reduced to an ALT on Macros. And giving everyone burst run would encourage At the Keys Squad Leader Leadership.

if its gonna be called "retreat" i should be able to do it when i've been whooped.


in its current state it is "charge!....now wait on me"

I get sad every time I look at retreat on my toolbar. I've used it twice, twice. Once at a huge battle on tatooine when the owners of the city we shuttled in on banned everyone so we needed to scoobydoo run it out of there. The other time was to help a jedi run from a bounty hunter....I feel soo dirty about that. I used boost moral only once. When I got an ear full of angry group members I havent used it since.

I changed the spatial that is yelled with retreat to say "Charge!" and now I use it during bag PVP battles where I am in the back and can sit down to recharge faster. Thus while I direct my group in the battle, I can get them the boost in moving they need. Once I move up to engage with them though...rally and volley fire are all they get.

Absolutely the same with me. I still propose that retreat actually costs almost nothing in action costs, but stops action regeneration for 30 seconds. This would allow emergency-use of the ability and at the same time would prevent it from being used in combat... you cripple yourself pretty much by stopping action regeneration, no way to still fight under that condition.

Retreat needs to be changed to Charge, grant a burst run and accuracy modifiers but lowers defense.

What about 2 skills, Retreat and Charge.


Retreat: Bonus to Defense, lowered accuracy and/or a damage penalty. The SL doesn't get the Burst Run, the speed multiplier for Retreat is higher then normal Burst Run (see below), and the damage penalty debuff lasts a little longer then the speed. Retreat should have almost no action / mind cost, but a long cool down timer.


Charge: Accuracy bonus, penalty to Defense, burst run.


Misc Ideas:

Possibly add Improved versions of each (Master level? Tier 4?).


  • Improved Retreat would have a faster speed modifier, slightly more defense, retains the damage debuff.

  • Improved Charge would have higher Accuracy bonus, less action / mind cost, and shorter cool down timer then the standard Charge.


On the concept of improved and advanced versions:



  • Improved Rally (Tactics 4): 120 Defense, 60 Accuracy, +50% duration, +25% range (of the rally not of weapons)

  • Advanced Rally (Master): 160 Defense, 80 Accuracy, +100% duration and +50% range (over standard Rally).

  • Improved Volley Fire (Master): 20 - 25% damage? longer duration?

Definately something to think about having improved versions of rally but I don't see a need for volley fire. Steady aim and volley fire should use the SEA that drop to be improved apon. For volley fire when it should be a 1% increase in damage and accuracy for every point.
