Squad Leader Archive
Thread: To Current Squadleaders
- Rally is a powerful tool at our disposal that give excellent defensive and accuraccy bonuses.
- Volley Fire gives a 15% damage increase against a target, most people once they've been hit with this once or twice will retreat out of range in fear when they see those red crosshairs on them.
- Terrain Neg: An SL lead group will run circles around most players on a hill. I found that very usefull this weekend, as we raided a base at the top of a large cliff.
PVP - Squad Leaders
Yes, Squad Leaders are helpful in PVP. You'll be mostly support, and you won't have uber damage, respectable but not an elite damage dealer. Your main job is to organize and keep the team going in the same direction. A well organized squad of 8 is more formidable than a disorganized mob of 16.
Here are your commands:
--- Rally (of limited use as it uses too much action)
--- Form Up (of limited use as dizzy doesn't do anything except for particle effects hopefully to be fixed soon)
--- Boost Morale todistribute wounds
--- Retreat (useful during lulls, otherwise usually spamming damage)
--- Volley Fire (Most Useful!) (Anyone stray to close to group -root- volley fire, kd, damage, damage, damage, damage, deathblow)
--- Steady Aim (Useless only lasts for 1 shot and not worth the action + warmup)
--- Sysgroup (Most Useful! Easier to coordinate attacks, especially when /group is wavering. the /sysgroup ensures plan of action and adherance)
The trick is to have a Plan of Action. (This will take some homework)
1. Have local area PVP / PVE Bases as waypoints and mailed to yourself. (Big homework part. Been citybanned on many cities because of all my recon work)
2. Have a friends list with the following listed.
a. Rezzers - Docs/CM
b. Commandos
c. BE's
d. BH/Smugglers - But these are very popular so no need to keep a list for those.
3. Before battle. Group together and tell them the objectives, and the game plan.
3.a. No one is left behind.
3.b. Everyone sticks together unless doing recon.
3.c. Have someone just beon leaveto be your recon/scout.
4. During Start of Battle. Have your recon follow troop movements. Intelligence is key.
5. Gather your forces. (Example: Bestine for Imps / Anchorhead for Rebs)
5.a. Know who the other group leaders are. (After a few PVP encounters, they'll be easy to find)
5.b. Set up your waypoints. Mail them to group leaders and group members.
5.c. Have recon scouts follow troop movements, and have one stationed at key rallying points.
6. Get your group towards Base Alpha(Bravo, Charlie...etc...) Set Overhead Overlay Map on.
6.a. Stay within your group. Have ranged riflemen/carbineers be your artillery, w/ crowd controllers(Commando/Smugglers/Carbineers/Pistoleers) beside them. Have a melee/rezzer within the group. Jedi run perimeter/heals and perform deathblow duties.
6.b. Advance towards target. Keeping between 50-65m from nearest target, anyone stray too close, and the crowd controllers daze them. Then that target receives volleyfire. Rifleman fire, and jedi come in for deathblow.
---Here is where you run -Retreat/Volley Fire/Spam Damage/Crowd Control
6.c. It's all about keeping within a tight group. The only danger from this setup is a commando with a rocket launcher + panic shot. So make sure that crowd controllers daze anyone coming too close.
6.d. Watch for flanking actions or rear actions. Keep your Overhead Map on at all times, watch for red dots, and set your Radar to 256m.
7. After all defenders are done, kill the NPC's and blow up the base.
8. Mail all group leaders next waypoint for base. Rally group to next base. Get reports from your recon scouts.

PVE - Squad Leaders
Squad Leaders are useful, only for the fact that it's easier to get a group together. Because of the CU and group oriented focus, a lot of people want Squad Leaders in their teams. The key thing is that people assume (correctly) that Squad Leaders know quite a few people and can gather a team together rather quickly.
1. Keep a Friends List with key stats:
a. Faction
b. Specialty
c. Level
d. Teamwork Level (Excellent/Good/Average/BANNED - Banned players go to the /addignore list)
2. For PVE Experience Grind
Bols/Pickets in Dantooine. Not much squad leader is required, this is where you just spam damage.
3. For PVE Loot/Experience. Set Grouploot to Lottery.
Nightsisters in Dathomir. Volley Fire/Rally
Myddrill Caverns. Volley Fire (Retreat on occassion if at all)
Krayt/Kimogila/PekoPeko/Gorax. Volley Fire/Form Up Dizzy prevents from doing KD recovery. So clear dizzy quick.
4. For PVE Faction Grind. Set Grouploot to Lottery or Random or Free for All.
I find Squad Leader to be most useful in Dathomir, especially for finding random Nightsister/Sith Shadow spawn with the occassional rancor killing. This is the most fun experiencewise. The +60 terrain negotiation helps a lot in this regard. And walking across Dathomir is a fun experience. This is where your camps come in handy. If people starts falling down, set up camp and have rezzer drag people to camp.
