Thread: suggestion for Leadership stat
why not make it so that SLs gain theLeadership stat with each skill in the SL line... scaled up for the higher you are in each line (like 1 for the first skill, 2, 3, and 5 as you go up *obviously these numbers can be higher depending on what they need for balance).
Then... whenever you use a SL skill such as Rally... the Leadership stat is checked to see if the SL fails on the order. Obviously SLs who have more experience being a SL and are further along will logically have their troops listen to them more, and this would be a good way to implement that.
From what I hear, SLs fail on their specials WAY too much, so that should be toned down in general, but adding this Leadership factor into the equation will provide a logical way for higher squad leaders to fail less than a Novice. Of course, there might already be something like this implemented and I haven't seen it yet since I'm only a Novice at the moment.
This would also finally give a reason for folks to be human (with their bonus to leadership).
This is a good idea.
It is consistent with other established systems (various crafter assembly skills, for example). It provides a feedback mechanism for SLs to measure their improvement. It also makes that +10 leadership that humans get a small but tangible benefit.
Another option would be to instead use the leadership stat to compensate for the HAM costs (high leadership = lower cost), or to establish the level of benefit from specials (high leadership = bigger bonuses).
