Thread: Halfway to Master Squad Leader; Disappointed
Hello
I plan on Mastering Squad Leader. I am an active and veteran PvPer, Guildmaster, and group leader. My thoughts:
1. We need a "Move Group in Formation Command". This will be best at Novice. This command basically means I click a button and everyone moves with me automatically. A play can choose to Fall In or Fall Out of formation (those familiar with Shadowbane knows this ability). Therefore I can say "ok let's move", click a button, and everyone auto-follows me.
2. The group bonuses need to show up somewhere for the members of the group. I click Rallly for example, and nothing seems to happen.
3. Volley fire. I just bought it and haven't tested it, but someone stated all it does is force people to take 1 pot shot then go back to their original targets. If this is true, it's baloney too. It should work where the Squad Leader targets something, clicks the button, and everyone then swaps to that target.
So so far I am a little disappointed in SL when considering what else I could spend the points on.
Formations would be fantastic and since it's the player's option to either fall in or out. I bet this works very well in Shadowbane and would do the same here. The nearly useless mobility tree could be replaced with formation commands and abilities in my opinion. While in a formation, itcould provide additional benefits i.e. movement rate increase (realistic sincethis is how troops are best moved in real life).
I also agree with your thoughts on player feedback. All SL skills should give proper feedback to group members if they are affected them.
Volley fire on the other hand, I can see its benefits as it's currently implemented. In PvP that single shot from every group member probably kills any PC. I also wouldn't like to see SL having total control overother group members - it shouldremain volunterybut beneficial to do as SL sees best. I'm sure disciplined group members will assist group leader in any case and a good group should stand out because of their individual player skills not because of a SL skill that forces people to perform some action.

Its a waiting game, unfortunately... patience... SL will be good in the future...
For now, both Squad Leader and Carbineer (the two professions I play) are not worth moving very high in.
With the Group Defense modifiers not actually doing much, and Carbineer the way it is, if you're 1/3/4/1 in Squad Leader and 2/0/1/2 in Carbineer, you're as effective as a Master in both, in my opinion...
But such is new MMOs
I'm working to Master both, regardless.
seems like we all play SL for one reason, we like the idea of what a SL should be and not what it be atm
i hope the DEVs will be open for our suggestion and will improve the profession where it should be, but it seems other professions got the same problem
i like to be a SL but . . . . ,if sometime get definitly that SL will get no changes, cause the devs think SL is good as it is, iam out of this profession, i want to be a usefull/powerfull groupsupporter, not "a nice to have" feature "look systemmessages, nice
"
