Thread: Consider SL and Group Tactics question

I am considering putting my points into squad leader. It seemseveryone on the board seems to think the skills are pratically worthless, but I was wondering if anyone thought the title alone gave them more credibility with group members giving orders or being made leader (since I think my combat tactics are pretty good and have been in several groups that were chaotic).

Second, in my experience have a group of marksman hit a target from a similar range and attack style (usually mind shots with me) or having a group of brawlers attacking a target from close range seem effective, but the brawler and marksman don't seem to complement each other well - at least from the brawler's perspective. He takes all the hits while the marksman can plug away from long range. Has this been anyone else's experience?

yes to the first.

no the second. I find that it can be a powerful combination. It just has to be used right. I had a group last night with 1 heavy swordsman at first. The setup we had was that i, the sl, would pull to the heavy swordsman. He would take aggro and beat up on it. Medic would heal as needed while sharpshooters would have a field day. It was ridiculous the stuff we were tearing through.

I am anxious to try a wall of melee (three or more) and a combat medic ae healing them while all the sharpshooters blast away to their hearts content. Sounds like massive damage. :-)

Frankly, until /assist works, true group tactics are pretty much worthless

It seems that sqaud leader title is as much a hinderance as it is a help. I solo with my Faction pets alot becuae it is so much trouble getting a group... too many non SLs think we are worthless and that we do not know what we are talking about.

but I will say when rally is not busy failing it makes a difference in battle. but it tends to upset people that they can not harvest while its up so those that want to be first to the prize tend to stay away form you. till group notify is fixed and auto split works again I really have lost interest on working on this skill as die hard as I was before.

Most ofthe time when I am grouped and bring up a stratagy no one listens or is already attacking while I am looking over the situation and typeing. when the group gets spanked they tend to blame it on me your fault or not. Like being the only overt in the group becuase the others do not want to risk it.

But if you can get a group that will listen then it is worth it.

Tark, gotta say you are right. More often than not, i will say that i will pull and some smart **edit** thinks he can solo a kimo by himself and then train it on us. That is probably the worst part of being sl, but the blame comes with the package. I think once they make it so we have the possibility of using volley fire, and it working without saying not enough pool points, we will be a viable class again. Until then, we have only our title.

People usually listen to their leader when it's life or death, unfortunately, there isn't any permadeath so dying still doesn't hold the penalty it should hold. There's not enough motivation for some people to listen to anothers orders. And then some people just can't take orders.
