Hi Everyone -

I've reached a point in time where I can choose to be a squad leader or a combat medic. I've read most of the posts about what's wrong withsquad leaderand fixes that y'all want. I know it's personal preference about which profession, but I could honestly be happy with either. Just want to know your thoughts on the matter. I knowcombat medicsalso complain that their skills are ineffective and are waiting for fixes to come down the queue. Which one is more rare?

I've posted a similar post on the combat medic forum to get their thoughts.

Maybe a combination of both? Although CM takes 218 skill points to master, so I doubt I could be effective. I would also like to keep my pistoleer skills to be somewhat effective in battle.

Thanks!

Personally, as a Squad Leader myself, I would like to see a few more Combat Medics runnings around. A group can have only 1 Squad Leader but it can always have several(preferably) Combat Medics.

But this is just my opinion. If you would be happier being a Squad Leader go for it. It can be a rewarding profession if you're willing to stick it out and really like organizing groups into effective combat units.

If you are really 50/50 about which one you think you'd enjoy more...do Combat Medic...you'll do a lot more for your team and if you are good at it you'll be in high demand.

On the other hand...be an SL...the more SLs we have whining on the main boards, the more likely we are to get some love from the DEVs...or so it seems.

Combat Medic is one million times better. Go up to the doctor tree and get revive. Look for CM to get a huge nerf, it's allowing people to play and get exp constantly. SOE will want tier two masters to take 640 hours to get. Nerfing CM will make everying take longer.

I have to agree with guyver

Combat meds are in very high demand, they have incredible abilities! And it's important to have a few present, the more there are the fewer times one has to heal over an over, making it less strenuous on them.

If there become too many SL's then some will not level as faster as others, kinda like the dilemna that crafters have. Plus some may become upset that many groups will already have an SL present. However SL's are a very honorable position. And hopefully will become even more desired when everything about it is fixed.

Still, use some imagination, even roleplay a little bit, make an example of yourself.

Combat Medic isMUCH more useful to a group than a Squad Leader right now. Just because you are not a squad leader, doesn't mean you cant organize groups and lead people. If being a good leader is something you like to do, then by all means do so. But keep in mind that the actual "Squad Leader" profession does very little (if anything)to actually help you do that except to give you a title. I am starting to find people are more willing to join your groupas a combat medic anyway, because you actually provide something useful to the group as a combat medic.

I am currently both. Since I dont really use any SL skills (they seem mostly useless, and if you want to advance as a SL its more beneficial to use your combat weapon skills than SL skills anyway) I dont have a problem with my mind HAM. I use to wear the SL title over my head, but like I said, people seem much more interested in grouping with me when I show I am a combat medic (especially if they know anything about the SL profession). So I still get to play the leadership role, organize groups and help out my team. But it has nothing to do with my SL profession. The ONLY reason I keep SL is for the potential for things to change.
