Thread: DEVs are the Deaf, Dumb and Blind Kid?

I just realized...

The only prof that needed serious help and has gotten any realpositive attention from the DEVsis Commando. Of course, theystill need more attention, but they've gotten some...which is a lot more than we have. So, what did the Commandos do? They posted a bunch of times on the main discussion board, I think their correspondent mail bombed themand their correspondent quit. Is this really what it takes to make the DEVs notice a profession? Maybe they want to see some creativity...we need to come up with something shocking for them to notice us. The correspondent quitting has already been done so we gotta come up with something else. The post flood of the main discussion board is a good start, but we gotta do something in addition. The only things I've come up with are things like an SL walkout (everyone dump their SL skills so there are zero SLs ingame). This is a really bad idea since there are plenty of people who don't read the boards and wouldn't get the message (unless we went ingame and policed it) and besides, it would just give the DEVs the feeling that they should leave SL alone since nobody is playing it anyway.

So, ya'll got any betterideas?

If our correspondent resigned that would be the best way to get their attention because then they'd have to find a new one to ignore.

The devs are totally clueless about the plight of the SL.

Not deaf, dumb or blind...just tired of people telling them how to do their jobs. As a developer myself, I know. They'll fix SL in due time, along with all the other professions. In the meantime, just work get your experience and stop cryin'.

...but they sure can play a mean pinball.

The Correspondent resigning for the Commando's was an lack of patience, in my opinion. Maybe it's just because I'm coming from DAoC where, three years after release, they still have problems (or worse one's) than they did on day 1. I understand the Commando Correspondent was frustrated - hey, we all are. If this class was completely unplayable (which I hear it pretty much is, as there's only 1 Master), there are several other options to choose from, even craft to pass the time till they fix it. There's no point in me stomping my feet and folding my arms as I walk out the door, they will circulate the Correspondents soon enough. They were susposed to like 2 weeks ago already anyways, but I guess that would require them to acknowledge the existence of the first one in the first place.

By the end of the month if we still haven't heard anything ... only then will I believe we are truly neglected and not even thought about.

I put a post on the main board saying: Let's all call Squad Leaders by a new name... henceforth we shall be known as SquaT Leaders since we can't do squat and we haven't heard squat in the form of fixes.

Well Vem, I wouldn't take your job if they paid me, and they won't! This is an exercise in futility. I'm a master squad leader and I don't use my active abilities 95% of the time and most of my passive abilities aren't turned on. Yay for me! I'm keeping the class to have something to complain about, but if I ever got serious about things I would dump it in a heartbeat for CH. That's sad, but what else can you say?

To all the people that say that SLs will be fixed in time, just be patient. I was patient in the last MMO I played and my class never got any love and my class wasn't the only one that got ignored like that.

I'm not intending to be crying and moaning here...I'm trying to find a proactive way to make sure we get attention. Sitting back and being passive tends not to get things done as being proactive does. I'm not saying we need to annoy the DEVs into noticing us (in fact that is no doubt a bad idea) but I bet we'll be better off if we find some way of calling attention to ourselves.

Ze'ev is right. The only way to get something fixed is to let the people in charge know there is a problem. Right now the reason that we don't have any response is because our board only has like 2400 posts, compared to 44,000 on the CH board. When you think about it, that's 20 times as many complaints for the Devs to deal with. The shear volume is what gets their attention and effort.
I don't understand the thinking that says, "if we just sit quietly in the corner the Devs will notice us eventually. No sense in making a fuss, so just be quiet." I want my problems addressed now, not in a few months or years when someone has some free time. I pay just as much as anybody else to play this game, and its much less fun for me when things don't work. The reason I don't get my problems fixed is because there are only X dollars worth of Squad Leaders playing this game while there are 40 times X dollars of Creature Handler (and every other profession) playing this game. Its all a matter of the numbers boys. The fastest way to get attention is to:
A. Have a lot MORE people play Squad Leader and complain about it, or
B. Have other professions complain that they want to have a Squad Leader in their group that actually does something.
I say we post on the other boards, letting the other professions know how much they can gain by having a functioning SL in their group. That might get some attention from the Devs.

I played a soldier in AO. Master of arms they called me, combatant they called me...Then I saw a tiny smuggler looking like a smurf shoot better than me, tank better than me..and he got all the chicks too.

But I prevailed...Then a Trader ran past me, out tanked me and out gunned me. And she took all my beer.

I still lived on, hoping for the day when I could get out of the gutter, and survive for more than 1.20 minutes..

But then came a shotgun doctor running past me, outgunned me and out tanked me..And stole my stims!!

Then I started sleeping in the sewer, drinking cheap wisky, and buffing all those socalled "weak classes" with the buffs they wanted.....The Master of Arms were disarmed.

2 Years I waited, and saw every other class get love patches, fixes, new gear...while all I could do was push my tiny adventurer friend in front of me, so she could do the tanking, while I fired like heck, ready to run if the mob even looked at me...

And now, I'm here. Squad Leader....And I realise, I am again sleeping in the sewer, drinkning cheap wisky, while waiting for the nice man to come by and offer me a hand and get me and my fellow SL's back on their feet.

Patience is virtue, and a cheap bottle of wisky.

Hey...a soldier. My wife played soldier and I played NT in AO. We were there in the gutter with you...people like us apparently are doomed to picking useless profs in MMOs (I tried Paladin in EQ).

*sigh*
