Almost every time I try to Rally the troops I fail.. Why is that? Is there a way to make it work? I only have 1 bar under that catagory,, will it work better if I get more?

No, you will always fail. The only thing I have found moderately successful is to raise my focus and willpower to their human maxxes(600), then I can use about 3 or 4 abilities in a row without it being too disastrous. Also I carry around a lot of head buffing food.

On a related note, does anyone know if the human +10 leadership modifier actually does anything?

It will always fail, as will most SL abilities. We have insane failure rates for worthless abilities with huge ham costs. Thus is the way of the SL.

Leadership mod/skill was removed in beta. The innate human mod was left in for some reason.

Hmm..

I dont know if this is a race issue. Im a human SL. Have been using Rally for a few days. It fail.. yes. but not in the rate that sounds on this board. Thats why i start wonder if it could be because of race sellection? However i can be better. I get a succesrate in about 3 of 4 tries. As i said i only been using it for a few days but im using it pretty often. Might be im just lucky though.

For me, the failure rate for Rally hasn't really been a problem. The only problem I have with it is that it is aworthlessspecial.

It fails often, however itactually benefits somewhat. From my experience if I rally a group against targets, they are less likely to miss, then they would without rally. IE I will rally, after 3-4 sometimes 6 fails in a roll, and afterwhich I will notice no one missing a target, even if it was an extremely hard target and the players in group had poor weapon skills.

Yes, but what if the group is higher-level, and naturally has a low chance to miss in the first place? Going from 95% to 100% chance to hit may not really be worth the skill point expenditure, much less the HAM usage. I believe this is the complaint of those who run with the Master Elites.

I've found it to be useful.

And, I can get it to succeed maybe 2 out of every 3 times. I think the trick for it is the majority of the group has to be engaged in battle[or, at least, you yourself have to].Everytime i've tried rally outside of battle, it has failed. But most times we're in battle, I can get it to work. And there is some delay period so you can't chain them...

Just what i've found.

Not me I use it all the time, and I fail 60% of the time at least even in battle. Trust there is no complicated code in place to make in fail only outside of battle.

It fails 3 out of 4 times for me. I expect it to fail more than succeed. It really makes me want to throw my computer out the window, when you are grouped and have an opportunity to use it in good situation(although I have no clue if it helps) It just fails until I ambecome a gimp with no mind left. Its really a joke.

I never use it. Ever. It's a total waste of time and HAM. I'd rather save the time it takes me to type in /rally by doing something far more useful like queing up FullAutoSingle1.

No it doesn't fail as often as we all make it out to. But it has at LEAST a 50% failure rate. Day 1 of being a squad leader I got rally, it took 12 tries to get a rally off on my first attempt to check out my new "cool" ability".

Only time I ever use anything other than retreat these days, as a master SL, is when my group is fighting easy stuff and I'm bored. I see 0 difference in my groups performance whether i'm using steady aim, rally, volly fire or not.

agreed... why take the HAM hit and dilute my XP when I can save myself the frustration of using an ability with marginal utility and ridiculous costs, while getting more XP?

The devs are nuts. These abilities should have no chance of failure, and the costs of running them should be neglible... that's why we invested our skill points in them!

Why inhell would wewant to fall on our sword in every fight, for no benefit, for less XP at all is beyond me.

PS: my opinion about them might change when I stop needing XP, but at the same time... whoopie. the benefit isn't worth the opportunity cost of not using another professions special abilities. These simple just do not compare, in any measureable respect, to any other hybrid/elite professions abilities. That our group terrain navigation bonus is more desireable than most of the other abilities (perhaps, combined?) should speak volumes.
