Thread: XP Gain Changes has anyone else noticed this?
Upon logging in tonight, I started grouping and killing baz nitches on Dathomir. During the course of this, as I was gaining Squad Leader XP, I was only gaining as much SL XP as I was Pistol XP, which as far as I know has never happened to me (unless the gain is like 1 point or something).I know for a fact this hasn't happened against decent-XP mobs, and the group I was in was three people and 2 pets. Then, the more we hunted, I started gaining LESS SL XP than I was Pistol XP. I didn't even know that was possible, thinking that the system worked on a multiplier basis. I wasn't expecting a huge multiplier considering that the group was smallish, but getting less SL than Pistol seemed ridiculous. Please tell me that something got wonky with my character and that this isn't the truth across the board now.
Okay, so I relogged after getting spammed with combat and Squad Leader XP like 5 times for no reason. After relogging, I'm now definitely getting more SL than pistol every time but it's only like 400-500 more, with a group of seven. Also, when someone in my team kills a lair, even if I haven't touched it I get 90 combat experience.
I have no idea what's going on.
You exp depends on the "kill" exp you normally get (you know, pistol, carbine, etc) and the group size.
At a group of 1, solo, you get no SL exp. At a group of 5, people or pets, your kill exp = SL exp. Above that you get more SL exp than kill exp. In large groups, you can literally get2+ times your kill exp.
Yea, I've noticed an xp change as well. Not sure if it's due to a patch, or due to my highlevel in rifleman. However, I'm getting less XP than I used to on everything. Also, I had a friend who was having xp issues like that last night. As for the combat xp, that's something new that I noticed. I play a combat medic in training on another server, and I've noticed that now if you heal someone while they're in a fight, when the mob dies you get combat xp. The more you heal or the more enemies there are the more combat xp you seem to get.
I think that the combat xp thing was listed in one of the latest patches actaully. Don't know for sure. Might want to check the past updates.
This probably isn't it, but is anyone healing others during combat? Healing others during combat now generates combat exp (potentially in very large amounts).
I don't know if anyone has ever established if squad leader exp is based on combat exp or weapons exp. This didn't matter when combat exp was a set one tenth of weapons exp, but with healing, things change.
For what it's worth, if squad leader exp is based on combat exp, you could gain in squad leader much faster by healing during combat rather than fighting. Even if you're just healing a pet, you still get extra combat exp (but not medical exp if it's a pet). Just a thought for a medic/squad leader to try out.

Interesting... I wasn't aware that healing now generated combat XP. That might make the Doctor/SL or CM/SL a viable template.
I have some meager medic skills - I'll have to check this out and see if I get SL XPif I only heal during a fight.

I believe it changed during the first big patch. I think you can actually gain combat exp in a group faster by just healing now. When I was using my pet for gaining medical exp (I spent about 80% of the battle shooting and 20% of the battle healing my pet), I was getting combat experience at about half the rate as pistol exp. As a rough example, I would get around 4000 pistol exp and 2000 combat expforkillinga voritor tracker on Dantooine. I can't recall how much healing I actually did, but I would estimate around 4 to 6 Stim-Ds (so perhaps 5000 health healed and 3000 action healed). If squad leader exp is based on combat exp, that's a nice chunk of squad elader exp. I don't know how big of an effect that throwing a couple Stim-Bs at your faction pet would have, but it's worth a test. Regardless, except for tight battles, youshould do all of your pet healing during combat, instead of outside of combat.
