Thread: Squad Leader *big let down*
The defenses were never 35.. I've played since beta the first day they put those defenses in.. they were always +15 and +10 to equal +25 total for each. Unless for some freak accident 1 of the patches in release upped it to 35 and then they changed it back, I haven't seen it ever touched once since beta.
And yes.. I completely agree. All of the active skills are pretty **edit** useless.. no way are any of them worth the skill points you have to sacrifice. The only things I liked, are the defense and 1 box in terrain movement. Even the other 3 boxes in movement are completely not worth the points.
Novice box itself, and the master box itself, also are majorly gimpy.. especially the master box.

aucutaly i found my error. You are right it has always been 25, when i orginaly did my template, i made it from the charecter builder program, and had written down 35, so i asumed it got nerfed, but the program has never been updated, and it shows +25.
reguardless though i really do exspect this skill to be majorly overhalled.
+25 ranged defense..............Used to be +35 got nerfed /shrug

boost morale........................*disclaimer says this is a powerfull ability, its not, infact its nothing special*
form up.................................handy at best, not really worth blowing the ham to use, pretty much not great.
steady aim...........................not even worth loading onto the hot bar.
volly fire................................not bad, but nothing special, saves about 10 seconds of organization, nothing to
dedicate an entire tier to.
Rally......................................Does not work in pvp what so ever, costs 200 mind and the fail rate is
nearly 70% plus costing 200 mind fail or no fail. all in all utterly worthless
at end game to use if you like pvp, and worthwhile to a degree to use in pve
retreat...................................stupid enough said
Im curious what exactly the direction of this class is. Were are they trying to take it, or do they simply have no idea really. Is the skill support, is the skill primary skill, or lame as is secondary skill point sink. Last time i caculated, it costs alot of points to go into SL, there should be a definate benfit. dont you think?
Possible solutions:
Right now there is no reason to master in this skill, that is because of two reasons, 1) the master tier doesn't add alot, and adds nothing new, and 2) becauase group teran negotiation is stupid, and no one wants to waste the points. So at most you have three tiers, and even that can be cut down to 2, because the tier with volly fire, is dumb and only concentrates on volly fire.
fix 1) rally should never fail simple as that, when you hit the button like everyone elses combat styles they use, it works 100% of the time....how would a TK feel if they used Knock down with knucklers on, and it not only didnt knock down there target, but it did no dmg, didnt even perform an action, and ate up the 350 ham required to use. Last time i looked squad leader isn't some lame skill tier like scout, its an elite profession.
fix 2) Each box in both leadership and tactics needs to add + to group defense ranged/mellee. Not asking for +20 or somthing, but even +5, leveling up squad leader gives you the feeling of getting nothing for blowing the skill points. It should be +30 ranged and melee defense with a +10 ranged and melee in the master tier. for a total of +40 to each.
fix 3) boost moral is somewhat EQish to say the least. Not everyone enjoys pve 24/7 and most people lose interest going out fighting mobs for 15 hours at a time. PVP is fun, atleast i find to enjoy it. If you are going to put a disclaimer on it and call it powerfull, then why call a duck a mouse, lets make it powerfull, or remove that disclaimer. I suggest instead of balancing out the groups wounds, that you make it a 1 minute timer and all damage taken by people in the group is averaged out to all members. this would be actual health action mind. Say if i have 10 people in group and palyer X would normaly be hit for 1000 dmg to the health pool. all 10 players instead take 100 dmg to the health pool etc.
fix 4) remove retreat entirly, and replace it with improved rally, because that only makes sense. Improved rally offers the same defense boosts and absortion ratios, costs the same mind to use, but the new one has a mind regeneration tick built in. This tick would drain action pools of the squad leader by a value ratio of 10action/25mind for a minute.
fix 5) the tier with steady aim and volly should have + to group disease, bleed, +25 to each. Also replace steady aim with volly fire, but add the acuracy bonus from steady aim to that ability. Then where folly fire was, put a new skill that adds + to dmg for the group. A 25-35% dmg increase for the group.
fix 6) the group teran negotiation tier should have group +to knock down and posture change (down) and +dizzy, stun,blind +25 to each, but leaving the dumb abilities as is, to make people interested in atleast getting this tier.
fix 7) master skill box should be somthing special, atm it is not, increase the overall +ranged defense and mlee defense, aswell as add a new skill that combines exsisting skills. Like one skill that combines improved rally, boost moral, and the dmg chant as stated above into one skill that lasts 1 minute.
Squad leader is suposed to make a huge diferance in a group, not just sink up skill points, its an elite profession, and one that should be looked at for improvment.
You only think Steady Aim is worthless until you have 3 commandos with HPBC's getting ready to hit an AT-ST. Then you realize it is in fact pretty useful when used in the correct situation. My guys have never missed on their HPBC shots when Steady Aimed. I mean yeah, its only good for one shot, but with some weapons, one is all you need.
lol, thats silly, for one comandos are due to get the nerf bat , and for two steady aim is garbage, and id never load it on my hot bar, im glad you have room for it, and find ways to use it.
I wont bother wasting my time with it.
