At the moment, a group speed buff sounds like a great idea.... But what happens when personal swoops come into the game?

Well.......

AS a profession perk Master Squad Leaders get the 'Troop Carrier' - a Large 20 player transport.

It's Big, It's Yellow and it has School Bus written on the side....handling is rubbish though.

The DEVs will give SL the shortbus though.

It might say 'School for the Specially Gifted' aswell.

Oh and the Door wont work properly so when everyone tries to get out they get killed one at a time.

I don't think it will be worthless. DAoC had horses (on a set route when I played) and speed song still had a ton of use. Although I doubt vehicles will be on set routes, I don't think they will be useable everywhere, or maybe they will use fuel/energy of some sort.

Or maybe just when random hunting out in the wilderness, I doubt people will drive between spawns.

Yeah, if Squad Leaders do get a bus, it will definitely be "short".

Regardless of bus color or length, I doubt all futurebattles will be fought from Swoopback. And while it might be rendered useless for long distance planetary travel I think it will still have value in battle. And I think in PvP especially a SL group with ForcedMarch/SpeedSong will have a significant advantage over a group without, depending on the actual boost/duration of course.

It depends on how they implement speeders. They might have "no fly zones" that are too rugged for speeders to work.

Truthfully, though, I just don't know

I see this as a major bonus in combination with group terrain negotation. I don't see swoops working well in mountainous areas while SL will be able to drag a group though those areas with relative ease.
