here's the post...

This isn't a dev's "hate" us post but i just wanted to point out the thread because it bodes ill for future SL updates. I mean if they are changing how the combat system works that means they will have to wait to fix SL's right? I just don't see anything being done with SL skills until the combat skills are ironed outconsidering we are supposed to have a direct affect on them.

Any thoughts? I was planning on keeping SL, it was one of the things i shot for when i got the game as well as Architect but neither of my professions are very enjoyable atm.

Honestly, I think the Devs are just utterly boggled by the Squad Leader profession. They obviously had one vision for it, and we pretty much uniformlytrounced it because we have an entirely different vision. Now they have to find something that we (somewhat) approve of and it still has towork within the game in a balanced fashion that compliments other classes.

It can't be easy, and I think we pulled the rug right out from under then when we saw the list of proposed changes.

MrDorf, I just hope what you say is true! I still fear they will actually implement their earlier suggestions.

I don't think they should worry about balancing SL in PvP anyway. Every group should have one, and only one. Any group who doesn't have a SL deserves to die!

Muahahahahahaha!!!!

Just to let you know, they already have had changes in development for SL. They told us about them just before last big patch saying that they were too drastic to fit into that patch, but they most likely would be in the next. Heres the text:

Squad Leader
We’re looking at adding a fairly large amount of functionality to Squad Leader, and because of that, it won’t make this update. The stuff we’re looking at:
· Follow Me:
o Everyone in the group enqueues /follow on the leader
· In formation: Using code similar to AI's followOffset: the group follows the leader in column, wedge or line formation
· Hold Fire & Fire At Will
o No one in the group is allowed to initate combat, although they can defend and can defend vs. anyone attacking a member of their group
· Group Attack
o Ayone not already in combat will enqueue an attack vs. the leader's look-at target
· Cease Fire
o Everyone in the group enqueues /peace.
· Assign Position:
o The group leader can assign group members to "Front Line", "Support" or "Ranged" squads. Group Attack, Cease Fire, Group Cover, OffensiveStance, DefensiveStance, Hold Fire and Fire At Will can then be directed to these individual squads
· OffensiveStance
o Gives the group a temporary bonus to damage. The bigger the group the better the bonus, lowers defense.
· DefensiveStance
o Gives the group a temp bonus to defense. The bigger the group the better the bonus, lowers damage.
(i.e. Assign your tanks to "Front Line" and enqueue DefensiveStance on the front line group, then assign the ranged guys to "Ranged" and enqueue OffensiveStance on that group, etc.)
· Group Heal
o No, it doesn't heal the group: It changes the look-at target of anyone assigned to a support position to the leader's look-at target, and gives the system message "You have been ordered to heal ". Used by the leader to tell his healers who to heal. So you still have to push the button yourself (because he might not need a heal - he might need /firstAid or the like.
· Group Cover
o Enqueues a /assist for the group vs. the leader's look-at target. i.e. if I want everyone to shoot what Dan is shooting, then I look at Dan and enqeue Group Cover.
· Forced March
o Non-combat group burst-run sort of thing. Broken as soon as anyone in the group engages in combat.
· Smoke-em-if-you-got-em
o In a camp, out of combat, everyone in the group gets a mind regen bonus. The bigger the group the bigger the bonus.

We're all WELL aware of those changes.....they've proven to be quite a rough spot between the Devs and the SL community. A signifigant majority of the posting SL's don't want about 70% of those changes to ever make it to a live server, and for good reasons.

Right now, even broken, a squad leader is pretty well-desired in groups. I get requests all the time to join this group or that group and most of them know that I can't do much other then spam their screen with pretty messages or exhaust my mind pool failing skills.

My worry is that if these changes go in, you've effectively turned squad leaders into a pet class with 19 pets. What player is going to want to relinquish their control to a squad leader? I sure wouldn't. I think if this goes in we'll have a hard time getting groups unless we promise not to seize control.

If you managed to read the posts above you before replying, or any of the other threads on this board, you would see that these changes are what we are so "up in arms" about, and the fact that devs aren't responding to our thoughts on this.

I've learned in no game to assume they must not be working on something because they are working on something else. Drawing conclusions like that only leads to more frustration. So the best thing you can do, and like I have to do, is assume they are working as hard as possible with a set priority list and the best is always yet to come. If you want something to the otherwise, let me refer you to www.darkageofcamelot.com.

And since there will now be a private correspondent forum and a TC PA for the correspondents they will hear lots about SL from Vemnox I'm sure.

Hit em hard Vem. #1 issue: No Master Level abilities, no tier III or above abilities (in my opinion.)

Too bad the first thing Holo said was:

"For now, please don't post stuff from this board yet."
