Hey

Just wanted to pop my head in and say hello, as I mastered Squad Leader last night. I have a melee main character and my alt was a smuggler. I thought squad leader would be an interesting compliment to it, i was already finding the smuggler "crowd control" specials useful in pvp/pve.

Not seeing or knowing too many SL's, im amazed already at how many people have cheered this decision and are lookin forward to have me pvp with them. My smug/sl (grouped with 1 other) took out krayts last night faster then my tkm/swords/doc main does. volly fire is awesome

Ive been browsing your board here and was very pleased to see all the useful information. Im already excited about being a part of this profession and am curious to see how the revamp affects it all.

/salute

Welcome on the team!

You are one of the chosen ones, who learned that the SL already now is far from worthless.

Enjoy this knowledge and help us pray that the revamp is still a bit revamped from the first try before hitting live, so we also in the future will be able be helpful to the team.

Edit:

It seemsas if you arefighting for the wrong side.
Don't waste your potential, use it to enforce Law and Order, sign up with the Empire.

w00t Ive been chosen

Ive been wanting to add SL to my template for a while and i have to admit i was talked out of it by friends who have been playinga long time who said it was worthless.

It was always in the back of my mind as something that would be very interesting, and having to pay attention and do the right moves at the right time seemed so much morestimulating then /meleestike /macro melee strike

I know it will become more popular after the revamp but im finding wonderful already. Im very excited to start PVPing with it, smuggler might not be the best support prof but it gives me great specials (ive also heard that smuggler specials are useless, i dont know what game these people are playing :smileyvery-happy.

ok ramble off, back to lurking and learning some more

I dare to say, your advisors (which probably also told you that joining the Rebellion is the right way) have proven to be wrong now already more than once, you perhaps should reconsider more of the things they told you...

SL, while not being utterly powerful by itself, is very useful when grouped up and applied properly. And things are rather similar for the smuggler, the smuggler might not be the premium damage dealer, and if you don't use your abilities cleverly, the smuggler indeed also performs badly. On the other hand, if used cleverly, the smuggler is a wonderful utility class, i often fight with one in group and his crowd control abilities allow us to do things which we'd otherwhise never manage.

(He actually combines it with Commando to do area effect crowd controling... and he basically taught anybody in guild on how to work together with a smuggler, the value of a smuggler also decreases drastically if the group doesn't know how to cooperate with a smuggler. The most prominent pitfall is to use area attacks while the smuggler used his abilities to just take some enemies out of battle for some time...)

You arent the first to suggest that, but i use my powers for good! GOOD i say!

Ive been very lucky in the groups that i hunt and pvp with, its either vets that actually pay attenion to the little icons popping up on HAM bars so they dont break my concussion shots and have a clue what it is im doing...

or with very new players who are more then happy to take the advice of someone slighty less new, so they also pay attention

Agreed. Welcome to the SL team, now we just need to show you which is the proper army for dedicated soldier and officers such as ourselves to be in; the Imperial Army!

But honestly, good to have some more, to you and to the other recent SL's who have come on board. I haven't posted on everyone's 'new to SL' thread, but I read them and its good to have you all here with us.

That's exactly what we imperials do. We uphold law and order and strive to strike down criminals of all kind.

Of course, rooting out those huts and rebels will take a while.

The first are a criminal organisation with quite some financial background, so eliminating them requires massive ressources. Unfortunately the second mentioned organisation of terrorists currently works hard to support the first group by creating civil unrest and binding a good deal of the forces which basically would be required to effectively fight the criminals. (Due to well spread propaganda and lies, they even manage to get some support of different groups which think that supporting the rebels will benefit their personal goals.)
