The Officer's Club is open!
Take off the ties, toss the jackets on the back of your chair and kick back....we are on leave and its time to relax.
It seems about every forum has one sticked....a thread with stories related to the profesison for us all to read. Those of us that are Squad Leaders have many stories I am sure. Leading a group of players into battle where you win against great odds...or lose even with the upperhand.....seem to always end with a grand story.
Out of all the professions, I feel Squad Leader has the most personal touch as it takes 90% mental skills, 10% physical skills, 110% of the time. No button mashing or special spamming for us. If we are not 3 steps ahead of our own and 5 steps ahead of the enemy, we are trouble.
Let's hear some ofthe stories you Rebels and Imperials have sitting in the back of your mind as a great time. Not where your Squad Leader mods or specials did the trick, but rather where leadership was the key player.
Maybe we can all learn from each others mistakes.

Intel had reported that a Rebel group was forming up in Moenia. It further showed their numbers equal to ours in strength and theirs was getting larger as time passed. Clearly, standing and waiting for them was a bad idea. I gave the order to load into the shuttleport so that we could prepare for an assault.
Once loaded, I sent in scouts to check the area of the spaceport to get solid numbers. When the report came back, it appeared that a handful of them had left so the numbers were equal again.
/sys Form up and stay together!
/retreat
The groups moved rapidly down the avenue to the bridge overlooking the spaceport. The rebels all moved into the spaceport hoping to force us into close range. Making it all the way to the enterior, they decided to make a stand by the ticket droid...
...poor guy.
/sys Inside and to the right. Form up andstay together! /target me for assist and get ready to engage.
Their jedi moved in and engaged ours at the blast door on the backside of the hanger. Rallying the troops,I charged passed them with the ranged soldiersand stormedinto the open hanger. Directing the squad with hand signals, I instructed the squad to hit their doctor. He went down fast. The rebel jedi, seeing they were surrounded tried to push back to the shuttle to regroup. I am sure that the shuttle pilot cut his stay short when he landed in the hot zone. Red, blue and green lasers shot in every direction around his ship. More of the rebels were flooding in to the building and we needed to secure it quickly.
/sys Form up and stay together! All units on my target!
I continued to put all the ranged firepower my group had on each of the rebels till they dropped. The group was dropping them as fast as they were being targeted. The last couple of rebels tried to make a run for it and were cut down before they could even get to the door.
After securing the spaceport and surrounding area, we setup a check point in the city and eliminated acouple more rebel sypathizers before eventually regrouped at the spaceport and pulling out. No casualties. Just how I like them.
There were about 15 on each side. The rebel forces had a few morejedi. All 30 or so players were fighting in the spaceport. I'm just glad they didn't have a SL. They were so disorganized when we moved in, they scattered like birds. Then again..I imagine seeing an avalanche of white clad stormtroopers flood through the rear blast door would be enough to rattle even the battle hardened jedi.

These are some IC stories I wrote after certain ingame events:
PRE CU /PRE GCW Revamp
A Imperial Interception of Rebel Alliance Message
My first AH Bestine PvP event. I gathered some ppl form my new guild and swooped to bestine to take over the Imperial Base.
Assasination of Rawe
The second part of a RP PvP Event planned by Bull-moose. The first one was pretty small, this one had at least 40 players on rebel side (an all who had, wore rebel faction armor). Very cool event. We had even a Lambda shuttle drop from a CSR for that event.
Post GCW Revamp
Battle of Talus
Rebels Red Circle (my guild) dropped together with CIA, EHR/EHRSO and I three PvP bases close to New Mandaloria.
The imperials destroyed the PvE bases in the first night.
Battle of Talus Part II
This was written shortly after the above PvE attack, when they came to destroy the PvP bases.
POST CU
Imperial March on Talus
Much later after the reinitiating of the Ahazi rebel alliance, the alliance gave us a 2PvP one PvE base cluster to defend. While loggin in I noticed a rebel with a strict imperial guild tag checking our vulnerability times. About 20 minutes later a group of 30 overt Imperials arrived to take out the PvE base resulting in a massive PvP battle which continued even after they destroyed this base. The whole group was looking for PvP and went on destroying base after base overt, while rebel PvPs tried to stop them.

Not a big thing, but I felt good one day when the sheer innate sl bonuses(and a little rally) helped a friend. A friend needed help with a BH mission(she'd died in a previous attempt),but when I got there it was unattackable for me,so I had to rely on completely non-offensive SL abilities. No clue how well raly helped, but i know b/c of my SL abilities my friend's health never went below 2/3. Made me feel proud that I helped a friend purely on passive SL skills without falling back on shooting.

Not realy a story but at that battle today on Tattoine I was up and downthe fieldand I saw about 4 SL's pushing the front line. With about 80 on the rebel side alone, it was hectic and laggybut I saw alot of teamwork and it's nice to see more then my own SL commands fired up.

One of my proudest moments as a SL was a trip my guild took to try and get some NS elders and loot some crystals. Well this was preCU and things went badly, very badly. Everybody but myself (MBH/MSL which preCU had almost no defense) and a MDoc/TKM died. Well we managed to drop aggro on the NS elder and I set up a camp (since she needed a camp to start reapplying buffs after rezzing everyone. She drags the MSwords/MDoc over and they dragged and rezzed people as they could. The whole time I kept an eye on the NS elder. Well at somepoint someone in our group upset the old lady and she was making a beeline for our buffing camp and I was the only one fully buffed from before went on a seven minute kiting session, using my terrain negotiation and trusty laser carbine to keep her away from everyone else while they buffed. In the end I died, they got her and all of that resulted in 726 credits looted split 12 ways.

*Stand up and goes to the mic*
To all new SL around on this board:
Welcome among the ranks!
I wanted to remind you all to drop by in the Officer's Club ...
/tiphat KJFett3
... and tell us your SL stories, either IC or just things where you were proud of being a SL.
Also I can recommend to have a look at
A good read from the Officer's Club
Which though has nothing to do with SWG is still a very interesting read for any SL.

I was at that fight. Everything is accurate save the fact that I remember the Imperials have quite a few jedi andI was able to escape (I know I was the ONLY person who was able to get away) after the onslaught. We did haveone SL but she was AFK when the attack came...I'll elaborate
I can shed a little light on this battle, something you couldn't have known. We knew your group was in Theed and we knew that your group was coming. I instructed EVERYONEto head to the shuttleport as I knew you would never load into the starport. After about 5 minutes of begging people in TS and sending countless tells I had our entire group crossing the bridge and heading to the shuttle. However, and I don't know if it was planned by you Drevin, or just dumb luck, but two AI jedi loaded into the starport. Well, 95% of the rebels quickly lost focus and rushed the starport (in frustration, thatwaswhen our SL kinda went AFK). Not more than 20 seconds after that, the imperial forces loaded in the shuttleport. All I could do was fire a few shots as I /burst across the bridge and into the startport. I tried to rally the troops inside, get them to form up but it was no use. The rebellion lacks incoordination and battlefield smarts. We were systematicaly eliminated. I was able to incap a few Imperials and even got two DBs before I fell back to the opposite exit. Just as I reached the exit I must have been painted the primary target. I was rooted but able to stayalive long enough to break root (must not have been advanced) and retreat. Needless to say, you could have heard a pindrop in TS after that debacle.
It's always a challenge to go head to head with Drevin's command.

(When I was novice)
was out wondering around Lowlands up north of Espa, the town i was had was called Mos Lowlands and rumor had it it wasgreat hunting grounds and lots of people. Execelent, where else to prove my combat worthiness and keep in shape till the battle begins. I'd had already proven myself in space combat numerious times.
I gathered an odd group of vetrian fighters, out for money or just to hunt.. Awesome, this should be great kills. After gathering our missions, we came to the first spot, a bunch of Banthas. Nice , Big, plump banthas, I'll dine well oftheir meat tonight. We get readt to fight, 1 guy rushes in, and attacks bantha, we follow suite, nailing bantha by bantha, as I would encourage them to Steady their aim. Someone missed, hit the Bantha's Lair and the beasts went wild. the banthas charged at us, there had to been at least 10 of the dang hairy Baudazs (Zebrek for 'Deamon') comin right for us. We stood our ground, those that were not experienced enough got dropped quickly. I saw one coming after this one kid, a wet behind the ears kid I brought in cause he looked like he had guts, He had guts all right, just needed more vinagar
, I switched to my carbine and started firing at the beast rapidly, caling for our medical personal to start healing a few people who were in dire.
and then I heard it, Ya, that ominious noise that could only be made by one thing. "WWWoovoooom!" Dnag jedi, goina get us all killed now. I knew I shoulda checked him closer, he came off the shuttle only in a hood. In a mazement andand skill of envious he spun his light sword with such skill slicing through the Banthas. I saw this as my time to get everyone to a safe point.
Once the Dust had cleared the beasts settled down, and we were a good 40meters from a small cluster of em, I got the guy with the rifle to pick em off, so we could deal with them one on one ( or try to).
It's been months sence that day. I've been a more seasonedField commander since. More wiser, more quicker, and always taking my group full in.My trainning and experience has not gone unnoticed, I've joined up with an Colonel to help raise attacks against the rebel forces.
May their bodies hit the floor.
