The extra range is the best reason for SL/Rifleman, but it's all about what you want. I always preferred pistols for their accuracy at close range and while moving, so I was either PIstoleer or took up BH pistols. You can master SL and pistoleer/rifleman/carbineer and have a few points leftover, so one of those are usually the best bet. They all have their awesomeness.

So I just made master SL, which was my primary goal in the game, now I want to know the best route to follow to make myself a more useful character in combat. I had been studying ranger under the pretence that it would aid my abilities in the field, but as nothing in ranger works as well as it should, or in some cases at all, I am dropping it. Pistoleer had been my weapon focus, mainly because of the really cool 'gunslinger' title, but the more i work at pistoleer the more not useful it feels. Is there a best path for me to follow here? Should I take one of the main ranged weapon paths or scrap more stuff to go for bounty hunter or whatnot?
Just because leading is my primary focus doesnt mean I cant do some hurting as well.

I´m a Carabineer and I think that works well with SL, most people would probably say that you should do Rifleman though so you can get the extra range, therefore be able to see the overall picture while still being able to engage the enemy.
