I am planing to go SL. My two questions are:

1. Do I enjoy the group melee and ranged defense when I am solo, too?

2. If I was planing to grind the SL XP, is it possible to lead a solo group and get increased XP, too?

Thanks for the info!

1: no

2: not really

for 'grinding' out SL the best way is to get a decent sized group (5-10 ppl) and do something together. like raiding the NS or spiderclan cave.

geno labs works wonders as well. when you have access to quick training you can master in less than an hour.

the XP is related to the overall combat XP of the group andthe group size. so - the bigger the group (or better the more ppl around you) and the bigger the targets the more XP you get.

factions farms should be nice as well.

SL is the easiest Combat related profession to master. It can be done in under 3 hours.

But I suggest that you learn how to use your skills as you get them instead of jumping straight to Master and having a bunch of new tools to work with. Our abilities may not be as complicated as other profesisons, but its still a good habit to be in.

And try not to solo group, its something we are working to remove from the game.

Thanks for the quick answers. Even though I regulary use solo groups (to get higher lvl missions and better XP) I will try to avoid them from now on.

Which reminds me... wouldn't it be something nice for the squad leader to have? I mean like granting groups an XP bonus? Dunno if something like that already came up.

Actually yes and yes to your two questions. If you pull out a droid and group it with you, you get to use your SL stuff. But the SL XP is really low, so it would be like grinding an entire elite profession in just combat XP so it would take forever.

But like Irott said, you should really work on fostering group dynamics. Solo play is teh old and busted, grouping is teh new hawtness.

something like an xp bonus would be neat.
MSL isn't a good profession to just master. Right now, it's worth is far beyond just the skills. Getting a group and doing something together is an easy and very rewarding way of mastering squad leader. You learn how to lead a group, and how your skills work more gradually than bringing a MSL and getting master in an hour. Those are the best MSLs I think.
