How about an ability for a squad leader to assign a formation to a group. This will automatically put the group members in "follow" mode in a certian formation behind the squad leader. while at rest the regular standing pose would be replaced by an "attention" stance.
What do you think?

This would have to be a consent driven feature (the only time I can say it should be there) because it would force people into a position thus giving SL a bit too much power.
But I have always wanted to have a few different formations for attack and defense.

It should force people into formation when you issue it, but then players are able to break out of it just like how they can with auto follow. To keep them in formations though....give them bonuses.

exactly. have them be very very good bonuses. because you're always more powerful in a squad than a bunch of guys with guns.
That would also attract more people to squad leader

Wish we had that, those of you that do play/have played PlanetSide knows about the "platoon" system and how fantastic it is, allows each "leader" of the particular platoon to place unique colored waypoints for the rest of the group to see and some other little gadgets. This would make a nice concept for base raids and mid-large scale PVP battles.
